(15,740 posts)It's very interesting to listen to them as the invasion reports began to come in. Curiously enough the initial reports were from monitored German broadcasts; from listening to the reports it seems apparent that the Germans knew the invasion of mainland Europe was underway quite early on D-Day.
In years past on 6 June I'd play those recordings in the background as I went about my day. It really made me feel connected to those events over the intervening decades.
