Christianity Today article on George Floyd

I never thought I’d post a CT article, but this look into who George Floyd was is lovely. No one deserves what was done to him. But if anyone tries to smear the man, this is who he was.

“The rest of the country knows George Floyd from several minutes of cell phone footage captured during his final hours. But in Houston’s Third Ward, they know Floyd for how he lived for decades—a mentor to a generation of young men and a “person of peace” ushering ministries into the area.

Before moving to Minneapolis for a job opportunity through a Christian work program, the 46-year-old spent almost his entire life in the historically black Third Ward, where he was called “Big Floyd” and regarded as an “OG,” a de-facto community leader and elder statesmen, his ministry partners say.”

tRump was taught by his father, that they are above everyone else, no matter what the race. WRONG. tRump has no character, no human qualities, nothing. We could go to any city in this country, large or small and find people with 100% more humanity than tRump. Lots of people of every race. tRump is SCUM. The gop owns this entire mess, they egged him on through all the tweets inciting people, the gop stood by him giving him a thumbs up. We HAVE to get them out of power, let DEMOCRATIC leaders show everyone how to run this country, for all of us.

Also a man like this wouldn't have resisted being arrested on bogus charges, he would go with the flow knowing he was innocent.

and running into a cop who wanted to show off his own power over people.

This whole thing is sickening. There is no other word to describe it.

Or did they make up that story? The video I saw started after they had arrived, but it seemed they just went for the black man.

Everyone knows if there is a crime, the closest black person HAS to be the suspect. What amazes me, is how few people of color are in this administration, since there is so much blame to go around a black person would make a very handy scapegoat. This man had more humanity and character than the entire tRump crime family combined, plus several of the administration members.

the bill was fake. He was pointed out as the person who gave it, but it doesn't seem to have been "He was trying to get away with passing a counterfeit bill" but "I have a counterfeit bill, I'm supposed to report that, and oh yes, he's still around."

As I said there's a lot out there that's not true but he appears to have been well known and liked.

It does not mean anything. It is weird that so many responded to that. It is very possible that all of this happened for no reason at all.

Would anyone even call the police if I tried to spend a fake bill? I could not convict someone beyond a reasonable doubt for that.

and ask the person where they got the bill from. Ultimately, they just want to find the counterfeiter and anyone who is buying in bulk from him, not someone who has a single bill.
