(1,822 posts)Unfortunately the whole damn system needs to be redone. Its broken beyond repair IMO. The founders had a great system but they didnt foresee the Congress bending at the knee for the President. They didnt foresee the courts becoming politically motivated, the cabinet becoming a bunch of lackeys and the media that is nothing but propaganda. So many problems that Trump is utilizing and will only go away as long as Presidents choose to be humble and not exploit them.

(14,491 posts)high-wealth individuals and special interests. That, I propose is the heart of the problem. If it were not for massive financial support from the ultra-wealthy (Koch, Adelson, Murdoch, et al) the Republican party would be relegated to the margins of history.
Raw human lust for power and assets and an abundant supply of psychopaths for making into politicians helps as well.
Primarily due to the massive imbalance of asset and power distribution around the globe between the few and the many, I'm very prone to agree with your conclusions in the long haul. This complex system has been built to prevent reversing the imbalance.

(10,749 posts)He is the embodiment of what 99% of republicans believe in and have been waiting for 40 years to come to pass. They are certainly not going to slam on the brakes. The reason they do not speak out against him is because they are not against him.
