The best timing would have been after we got Bin Laden, but he can still do it. He should get airtime on the networks, lay out his reasoning, and pull the trigger. Don't forget to mention the dollars that will be saved etc.

I would like to see a policy speech directed at our allies as to how we are going to cut back on the military and how they should step up if defense is really important to them. If not then why are we spending the dollars???

It is a winning issue if handled correctly.

Not to say it shouldn't be ended, just that their is no correlation.

it may be a better issue for a second term and for legacy. The long term effects of a complete, more liberal, overhaul of US drug policy would prove more significant than ending prohibition. Emphasis given to defunding worldwide enforcement and interstate prosecution and building an infrastructure for treating mental illness and chemical dependency.
