That is rewriting history!
Here is what actually happened:
The Reagan administration's handling of the raid was hurried, and was followed up by embarrassing revelations several months later. Bob Woodward, the reporter, revealed that the administration had devised a policy to plant false information in the press, the American press included, to convince Qaddafi that an attack on Libya was imminent, and that he would be overthrown.
The administration also conceded that a State Department memo had discussed the assassination of Qaddafi. "The memorandum went on to say that if the Libyan leader became unsettled and insecure," The Times reported at the time, "he might take repressive actions against his own army 'which in turn may prompt a coup or assassination attempt.'"
A month after that, the Iran-Contra scandal broke over the Reagan administration, quickly erasing all public approval gains Reagan had won from the raid, and bringing his administration to its lowest point in six years--and Reagan himself to the brink of impeachment.
More Facts -- During the Reagan Presidency:
April 18 1983 Beirut Islamic Jihad car bomb destroys Embassy 63 killed
October 23 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombing two truck bombs struck separate buildings 299 American and French servicemen killed
December 12 1983 Kuwait City al-Dawa truck bomb outside embassy 6 killed.
September 20 1984 Beirut Hezbollah truck bomb outside embassy 24 killed
November 1984 Bogotá Car bomb outside Embassy planted by drug cartel 1 killed
February 1986 Lisbon Popular Forces of 25 April car bomb outside Embassy
May 14 1986 Jakarta Japanese Red Army mortar barrage none
June 9 1987 Rome Japanese Red Army mortar barrage
December 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed killing 270 people and Gaddafi admitted Libya's responsibility, so Libya was not quiet for 25 years.
And there was no apology from the Obama administration.

(16,254 posts)I doubt he was making many decisions, at all. It was probably the puppetmaster behind the curtain.
They are bending over backwards to do as much damage before the election as they can. If it's this bad now, what will the end of October be?

(6,160 posts)Me: What apology? What is this about?
Original Poster: Obama did.......who else, he is so apologetic to be an "American" (as if he even really is).......
Me: Obama apologized? What exactly did he say? Post the quote.
Original Poster: Muslims Attack US Embassy, Burn American Flag on 9/11, While Team Obama Apologizes?....Go to Fox News and look up this headline......
Another Poster: brainwashed...
Me: I looked up the headline. There is no apology. The statement from the embassy is there and it is this: "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others" That is not an apology. No where in it does anyone apologize. An embassy about to be attacked put out a statement that attempted to bring calm to a very volatile situation. It was not an apology. Nor was it produced by the White House. And the statement from the embassy in Cairo was released some 10 hours before another mob attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.
Me: Secondly, the other claim in the original post is also false. Libya was not quiet after Reagan bombed their leader's house in 1986. In December, 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed killing 270 people and Gaddafi admitted Libya's responsibility. In addition, there were 8 other terrorist attacks killing Americans during the Reagan Administration on American embassies and barracks abroad. During the George W. Bush Administration there were 11 terrorist attacks abroad killing Americans. While Obama has been President until this horrible incident, not a single American has been killed in terrorist attacks abroad except for those who lost their lives in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. These are just facts.

I pretended to be dumb, ignored her hint at birtherism, attempted to get her to post the quote (they never do), got her to admit she got the lie from Fox, and then gave her the facts.
If she responds again, I will address the fact that Fox lies and there is no logic to believing Obama is not an American.
