(12,310 posts)believe a governor has every right to defend a state that has not seceded against wrongfully invading federal troops.
I believe the law is a governor must request the assistance of federal troops for them to be deployed lawfully.

(18,661 posts)The National Guard would have to refuse the orders from DC. Then follow the governor's orders to oppose Federal forces.
Does that scenario sound familiar? It happened once before.

(18,661 posts)But the Guard is a dual membership force. They belong to their state and the regular Army.
If there is a dispute between state and Federal orders, the courts have determined Federal takes precedence.
