(16,646 posts)It helps tremendously if we are not acting just like them. The larger problem is that we don't have the "moral imperative" here. Separating children at the border, building a wall that will keep no one out, (China tried millennia ago), travel restrictions that accomplished nothing, these are how the US loses the moral basis to challenge other countries. Imagine the strength we'd have had with Iran if we'd entered the pandemic in the midst of an arms agreement that had been working for 7 years. Imagine if China (or as the "Orange Anus" had pronounced it; ChiINah) had actually trusted us to work with them when the virus broke out.
I guess the American expression is "it will be what it will be".
Mine will be, "Who you vote for matters". Even when it is a boomer who doesn't understand how to handle governmental email. The 3 o'clock phone call is far more important.
