Just watched Cry Freedom.

A white liberal journalist befriends a black anti-apartheid activist in 1970s South Africa, the story of the friendship between Stephen Biko (Denzel Washington), leader of the Black Consciousness movement in South Africa in the 1970s, and Donald Woods (Kevin Kline), the white journalist.

Donald Woods + family had to escape South Africa. Had me holding my breath a lot, much too reminiscent of the U.S. today.
