The head of the Minneapolis police union says George Floyds violent criminal history needs to be remembered and that the protests over his death are the work of a terrorist movement.
What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this, police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter.
Floyd had landed five years behind bars in 2009 for an assault and robbery two years earlier, and before that, had been convicted of charges ranging from theft with a firearm to drugs, the Daily Mail reported.
Floyd died last week after a white cop kneeled on the 46-year-old black mans neck for nearly 9 minutes, a shocking incident that was caught on video and is sparking widespread violent protests, including in New York City. Floyd had allegedly just tried to pass a phony $20 bill before he died.
This terrorist movement that is currently occurring was a long time build up which dates back years, Kroll said in his letter of the protests, adding that some of his citys issues exist because Minneapolis leaders have been minimizing the size of our police force and diverting funds to community activists with an anti-police agenda.
Our chief requested 400 more officers and was flatly denied any. This is what led to this record breaking riot, he said.

If you support this trash, you have no reason wearing a badge.
I feel the same about Donnie Dollhands voters.
I could name you 100 Republicans that would cut taxes for the rich, screw the poor and put conservatives on the bench... however, they picked this guy.
There must be punishment for that choice.

(12,712 posts)That would be another matter completely and does not justify murder. What a COP out.
Are they saying that anyone who is "considered" a criminal is fair game now? Cops get to be the judge, jury and executioner?
That statement was an insult to our system, (as we knew it) and dangerous.
NO WAY!

Ain't that just the way of it?
It's not that the police do bad things. It's that anyone not cheering for them is a terrorist and out to get them.
Fuck Kroll and any and all who think like he does.

(11,885 posts)If you have a criminal past it's ok to murder them? That's justified for officers to ignore his rights, and use undue force restraining someone who isn't resisting, and isn't threatening them? I think that battle will be easily a losing one, and union police officers needs to get another chief for their union.

(25,980 posts)By the time the country has exploded into wall to wall protests, the entire world has seen what is going on and many countries have had sympathetic protests as well, it's far too late to try to get away with that.
Any sensible person ought to know he can't lean on the same old blame the victim nonsense this time around. What an embarrassment to the police union and Minneapolis. What a blatant illustration of the systemic rot that plagues so many police departments. Bob Kroll has got to go.

(82,849 posts)Stop digging. And after that screed, you might just consider pulling the hole you're in over yourself. Minneapolis Police Union members: Is this the man you want representing you to the world? Does he speak for you? The longer the union members leave him in this position, the more his words stick to you.

(11,468 posts)I was on a jury in rural WA state years ago and it was mostly a all white area but some mexicans worked in the orchards or vineyards. One of them got arrested for attempted rape. He had a job, custody of his teen daughter because his ex was on drugs but was making low money so had no money for bail.
By the time I saw him he had been in jail for months, lost his job, his house he rented and his daughter.
There was zero proof against him, literally zero and even the woman said he didnt touch her. They arrested him because when he went to his girlfriends house she wasnt there, didnt tell him her daughter (18) was going to be there and in the dark he accidentally laid down next to her on bed in living room. As soon as he realized she was there he jumped up and went to other room. The girl woke up with a button unbuttoned, which could have happened rolling over in her sleep, she even admitted he never touched her.
And yet me and a few others had to fight for him to go free, the conservatives on the jury wanted to keep him in jail because of his color. They said the police must know his past he did something in his past. And we said we are not there for his past nor do we know it. We are here for now and what is happening now!
We set him free but by then he had lost everything because of bail.

(13,058 posts)The cop will have a good well financed defense. Racists from all over the world are probably contributing to the defense fund set up by his union. And you can say that his past record is irrelevant. And I would agree but will the judge? The defense will maintain that with knowledge of Mr. Floyd's record they felt that his treatment was justified. If I were on a jury I would never buy that but who knows. As we know a lot of cops get off.
