Trump bets his presidency on a 'silent majority'

The lines of demarcation between the nation’s cities and their suburbs have faded in the decades since Richard M. Nixon courted the “Silent Majority” that elected him to the White House.

With his law-and-order, tough-on-protesters rhetoric, Donald Trump is betting his presidency it still exists.

The suburbs — not the red, but sparsely populated rural areas of the country most often associated with Trump — are where Trump found the majority of his support in 2016. Yet it was in the suburbs that Democrats built their House majority two years ago in a dramatic midterm repudiation of the Republican president.

Now, Trump’s approach to the violence and unrest that have gripped the nation’s big cities seems calibrated toward winning back those places, in the hopes that voters will recoil at the current images of chaos and looting — as they did in the late 1960s — and look to the White House for stability.

He is going to lose the election and then claim it was rigged against him by Antifa and Biden and the plot was actually detailed in Hillary's e-mails, but we still can't get the server out of Ukraine...

There is simply no chance that he is going to accept the election results. He is going to try to use the courts to remain in office, and once that is done, he may very well dissolve the Congress, install a complete dictatorship and being wholesale fire bombing of areas he deems too liberal or threatening to his power grab and plan to stay in power and then pass on like a hereditary title...

None of this is hyperbole any more...it is goddamn happening in real fucking time right now...the set-up has been in place since 2016, he would have tried to steal the presidency in court if the plan was less successful in PA, MI and WI...but it worked then and he is now far better positioned to stoke civil strife AS POTUS than as a failed candidate for POTUS...

background, watching all of these loudmouths confess their love for all things rump, trampling the rights of the innocents and all others not in the rump orbit. The silent majority (speaking for myself here) are sick and tired of the bullying, of the loudmouths, of the trampling of the rights of so many, etc.

I think personally, the silent majority is becoming more vocal, more outraged, more involved as rump and his cronies and supporters keep ranting and raving and moaning, all while rump continues to fail miserably at performing even the most smallest of his duties as president. The economy has collapsed, the CV is raging across the land, and people are protesting.

All while rump continues to play golf.

The "Silent Majority" hasn't been silent for the last 40 years. In fact, they never shut up.
