Nine Minneapolis city council members on Sunday announced plans to disband the citys police department. They did not offer a timeline or specific actions they plan to take but said they are taking intermediate steps toward ending the force. The group represents a majority on the 12-person council.

The word "disband" is not accurate and gives the impression that there will be no police department.
