How do you evaluate Donald Trump as a leader?
Trump is a very good example of what not to do and be as a leader. He doesnt take responsibility. He doesnt build trust. He doesnt bring people together. He doesnt do his homework and understand the details of the decisions hes making. He doesnt think through the strategic consequences.
Donald Trump is a transactional leader. He thinks that being president of the United States is the same as buying real estate. Donald Trump also believes that he can use reckless rhetoric and that there will not be any consequences. In both international and domestic politics, language has consequences. Trumps abusive language is very problematic.
Reliability and consistency are very important. Trump does not have those qualities.
As the president of the United States, he represents the whole country. The United States has spent 75 years since the end of World War II assuring the world that we had strong values and that was true across administrations. America also made sure the world understood that we were reliable. President Trump has discarded those values.

(17,599 posts)look at everything he does. His first inclination is to say no if he's asked for something. It's about what HE gets, not what the country gets. Its seems to me that he would rather cut a deal with a murderous dictator in NK for a future hotel rather than help an ally that is being hit by a hurricane.

(82,849 posts)But not one word of it hasn't been obvious for five years. Just unsaid by anyone in the media. If the media will now be allowing this kind of critique of Trump into print and on the air, the tide could at last be turning. Will the common good finally outweigh the money that folks such as Les Moonves found so irresistible last election? And will there be an accounting this time around?

(10,011 posts)At least some reporters are pushing to cover issues with more truth and less equivocating or placating a corrupt president.
Now, as America is wrestling with the surging of a moment that began in August 2014, its biggest newsrooms are trying to find common ground between a tradition that aims to persuade the widest possible audience that its reporting is neutral and journalists who believe that fairness on issues from race to Donald Trump requires clear moral calls.
The conflict exploded in recent days into public protests at The New York Times, ending in the resignation of its top Opinion editor on Sunday; The Philadelphia Inquirer, whose executive editor resigned on Saturday over the headline Buildings Matter, Too and the ensuing anger from his staff; and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. And it has been the subject of quiet agony at The Washington Post, which Mr. Lowery left earlier this year, months after the executive editor, Martin Baron, threatened to fire him for expressing his views on Twitter about race, journalism and other subjects.

(22,037 posts)He's smart, a clear thinker and he's tremendously accomplished.
I don't now his political views but the opinions he voiced in this interview are those of an American patriot.
Like VP Biden, he's the kind of leader we need going forward.

(26,587 posts)He chose not to take part in the Iowa caucuses, and got pretty much crushed by John Kerry's momentum post Iowa.
I think things might have gone very differently if he'd gotten in a few months earlier, and had enough time to build a proper ground game.

(6,933 posts)Drumph called on Russia to hack and publish Clinton's emails: Russia responded the same day.
Russian troll bots populate his Twitter feed to propagate real "Fake News" on each of his tweets & retweets.
Look at America today compared to 3.5 years ago: Wes Clark and everybody should come to the real conclusions.
Michael Cohen (who serves a 3-year sentence in jail having plotted on tape with the maggot to defraud Electoral-Funding for illegal payments to a porn star) said under oath that the plan to build a dRumph tower in Moscow was on-going during the campaign.
Drumph is fighting in court to keep his tax returns secret, while he said he would be "happy" to release them more than 4 years ago.
Read the (redacted) Mueller Report. How many crimes is Barr hiding??
Clear conclusion to everyone paying attention: Drumph was and is a Russian mole.

(864 posts)Wes was in second place in New Hampshire and Kerry and Edwards were way down in single digits when they unexpectedly topped the Iowa caucuses and came roaring into NH. Kerry went on to win but Clark got second place in many states while Edwards came in first only in his home state (favorite son) and Clark outbid him elsewhere. Then came the blackout in Tennessee and Wes, seeing the handwriting on the wall, flew to meet with Kerry and supported him. It was a surprise that Edwards was chosen as VP as many excected Clark to get the position. Edwards then sort of drifted out of the spotlight, a bad choice.
I hope Clark gets a prominent position in the Biden administration (Sec of Defense, Ambassador to the United Nations, whatever). Wes is, as they say, a national treasure.
