If the Republicans were smart, they are not, they would demand Trump resign.

Trump is crashing and burning. If the Republicans continue to protect him they will go down with Trump. Trump completely failed and he cannot fix it. His damaged brain makes it impossible for him to change. He will continue to make things worse.

The American people witnessed the Republicans in congress break their office over and over again protecting the most corrupt president in history. They know Trump committed high crimes and should have been impeached and removed. Now the people are watching the Republicans protect a racist, a fool that recklessly tried to cover up a pandemic that has killed over 100,000 Americans.

The only chance the Republicans have to save some face with the people is to remove Trump. If they don't they will get their asses kicked this November.

Time is running out for the Republicans, the Titanic has hit the iceberg, It will sink.

Now they have no choice but to go down with the ship ... and I hope that they do.

If you see him starting to put some space between then a lot more will jump ship. I realize they are still terrified of alienating their Trump base of deplorables that any republican needs to get elected, but I am guessing that at a certain point Mitch will decide they've rammed through all the judges he can get and RBG isnt going to kick the bucket this year and he'll give them all the "everyone save yourself" release.

He's been politically expedient for them.
If that is coming to an end, they'll throw him under the bus and dive over him 50 times - if it helps their political fortunes.

They created a Frankentrump monster they cant control. All those deplorables they been dogwhistling at since Reagan are now hanging on Trump's every tweet and he's too stupid to even whistle so he just says whatever racist bullshit they are all thinking without the code.

Never to be heard from again. It will be like Nixon did to his party- I have already forgotten their name, remind me again what party that was

It would engulf the news cycles from now till November. The hard core pro-Trump base would be out of their minds and turn their anger on the party leadership.

I believe that having Trump lose the election is an easier path forward for them than revolting against Trump.

Republicon elected officials went to Nixon and told him that he was going to be impeached, convicted and removed from office. That's when and why he resigned. Compare and contrast that with what happened a few months ago during the impeachment hearings and the impeachment itself.

These Republicons have sold their souls to the devil, I tell you.
