This is some very good news 5 months out.
No doubt hell claim it is fake news, but a new CNN general election poll has President Trump lagging a massive 14 percentage points behind Joe Biden, at 41 percent to the former VPs 55 percent. The poll of 1,259 adults also saw a significant majority of Americans surveyed say racism is a big problem in the country today and that the criminal-justice system in America favors whites over blacks.

(19,066 posts)Somehow, this poll showing Trump at 38% approval to 57% disapproval got the head lines, but the headline to me is that Biden is trouncing Trump right now. 14 points in this poll, 8 points in the composites of polls.
Biden is in territory that Hillary Clinton never saw, and let me remind people that if not for James Comey's surprise at the end she would have won easily. Without something like that Trump will not win.

(19,066 posts)In the RCP Poll of Polls, Hillary never hit higher than 49.0 between April and the election, Biden is at 49.9% right now, but he appears to be pulling away.
More importantly though is that Biden is doing really well with groups that Clinton struggled with, mainly suburbanites, working people, and retirees. He's far out performing her.

(10,830 posts)We need to act as if those numbers were reversed. Because 5 months during an election years is an eternity.

(8,300 posts)Although if anything it shows that people's minds are in a completely different place than 2016 in a way that favors Biden. I am optimistic.

47-37.
To clarify, this isnt Rasmussen Reports, which Scott Rasmussen left years ago. That one continues to put out kooky polls showing Trump with high approval numbers.
