looked behind saw a kid and did a dramatic, ouch ouch ouch, hopping on leg. Mother says, so sorry. I laugh and said it is ok. Bent to the kid with a smile, booking eye to eye and told them, gotta be careful and pay attention. That hurts.

Now, that would be the lesson I would want my children to learn, not by some stranger hitting a 100 in no time and in anger yelling at them.

If that happened, I would then have a conversation later with my kid that behavior was inappropriate and the better reaction would be...

So, I find all this kind of funny. Thank you for going there.

Halfway down the aisle, not at one end or the other, kid rams me, keeps going, knocks over display.

I yell at the kid "No running with carts!"

Mother shows up minutes later, looking for kid, kid whines about "bad man yelling at me," I point out I now will have a big bruise from kid's ramming.

Woman screams at me "No one talks to my kid like that!"

Store manager shows up, he saw the whole thing, he throws stupid woman and kid out.
Asks me if I need medical help, I tell him no.

But days later sure enough very nice bruise develops.

This woman was a "Karen," although I used more colorful language, not to her face though.

The Central Park dog choker was a "Karen."

So was the woman who called the cops because a black woman was resting on a park bench.

And many others.

I don't give a shit what gender a parent is, when they let their kids run rampant, it causes problems.

When I was a stock person at a toy store, I saw parents letting their kids open packages of toys on the shelf, play with and sometimes break them, and just walk off.

Some parents can be really irresponsible.

In pain and a bit of shock I yelled at her brat.
Then I pointed out to the woman where it hurts.

The store manager confronted the woman.

And some kids CAN be brats if they run wild.

As to guys being like "Karen," I've noticed they get called "Chad."

It’s funny to me how your story is kind of like a Rorschach test. I liked the thread better when there were fewer details.

A brief moment of anger at a child (even from a non-parent) is NOT anything other than human .. and probably justified. A screaming rampage? 'Course not. But I don't think anyone is suggesting that's what happened here. And if your kid is running around rampant (and heedlessly) .. crashing into, and hurting, other people .. and you're not attending to the situation. Then little Susie or Billie probably deserves a little barking at. S' called lessens on life. Don't crash into other people!

Don't want other people correcting your kid? .. then you do it!

speak to other people's kids? What utter nonsense! I general stay out of the way of parenting situations, because the parents are obviously primary. (assuming any "parenting" is going on) But the idea that no one else has any input? Craziness! Particularly when the child in question is running off the rails. Takes a village and all that.

An occasional show of anger is quite instructive in the lessons of life.

She's defiantly aggressive, treats everyplace like her playground, and is greedy/sneaky when it comes to sweets and treats.
She's not yet suitable for public, and now that she's too big for the cart, I won't risk her injuring someone or getting us banned from the commissary because she just cannot slow down and pay attention to her surroundings.
I would apologise in that woman's position. I love my grandkids, but I'm also honest about the risks she brings with her.
I can't wait for her to grow out of this stage.
