donut shop ends cop discount to support BLM, cops angry. Shop sells out of donuts

Allie's Donuts has allied itself with Black Lives Matter activists calling for police reforms. The doughnut shop in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, declared on Instagram Saturday that it was ending discounts for police officers and members of the military, Fox13 reports. The owner said the move was sparked by an incident in which a Providence firefighter was allegedly racially profiled while still in uniform. "We’re fed up. Until local police takes action to solve problems with racism and injustice, Allie’s Donuts will choose to stand with the people of our great state," the post said. "We will no longer offer military or police discounts. Thank you for your service, and shame on you for your silence."

Allie's later explained that it didn't intend to disrespect anybody. "In no way did we mean to insult people & their service to our country or community," it said. The North Kingstown Police Department accused the shop of sending a "message of hate" and said the problem was racism, not police. WJAR reports that supporters of the store's stance, some of them holding Black Lives Matter signs, formed a long line around the store Sunday. Allie's said at 2pm that it had sold out of doughnuts.

Drescher encouraged people to start a conversation.

"People in power. People with influence. Let's discuss how to fix things. Let's acknowledge that they need to be fixed and not ignore it and not pass blame back and forth and say, 'What about you and what about me and what about that and why would you ignore this?' No, something is wrong. Let's fix it," Drescher said.

I don't think it's unreasonable or unfair for them to charge everyone the same price for the same products.

The crew has been grounded. It was an illegal maneuver. Who gave the orders?

They need to figure out who gave the order and why they were followed. Illegal orders should not be followed, but most members of the military do as told.

Hey, the cops don't need to be eating donuts anyway. All that fat and sugar brings out their concealed racism.

Well then, if that's the case then maybe they should eat donuts so we can find the bad donuts, I mean bad apples

They are putting it into effect, it seems....

Hubby used to work at a donut place. The policy of free donuts for cops was to scare away thieves. But then, who would assume much to steal at a donut place?

350 Lbs each.

The average cop weighs 260 Lbs.

Therefore, it will do the average cop considerable harm to lose 350 Lbs.

It will do the rest of us, a great deal of good, however.

Don't worry. We will find others to protect and serve as is desired.

This current lot needs to disappear.
