White House looks to unveil its police reform proposals soon

Donald Trump could unveil a set of proposals for policing reform as early as Thursday, according to two senior administration officials.

The package is expected to include both legislative and executive measures. Among the proposals under discussion are databases that track police officers with multiple instances of misconduct, and changes to policing tactics, though one senior administration official said there's no consensus on proposing a ban on chokeholds.

"We're obviously sensitive to tying the hands of police," the official said.

Trump has been under pressure to address the concerns expressed by hundreds of thousands of Americans in protests across the country in the more than two weeks since the death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis police, after a white officer was seen digging his knee into Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes. That pressure intensified following images last week of police clearing protesters near the White House before Trump walked to the area where they were demonstrating to stand in front of a church for a photo-op holding a Bible.

It will be like Trump's statements on Charlottesville: good cop, bad cop.

much like he wrote the policy on putting children into cages, so the address on race and unity to be given by Trump will actually be a synopsis of that policy position and how the whole we can't agree on chokeholds will benefit race relations.

Miller writes the policy and Miller writes the bullshit benefits statement Trump will read to America.

Damn.

The policing policies are being coordinated by White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law and senior adviser, who are coordinating with lawmakers and Department of Justice officials

Everything taken care of.
