Eat your vegetables! Dammit!

I visited a friend for dinner. She has a 5-year-old child.

When we finished eating, the child's plate was clean, except that the vegetables were still there, uneaten.

My friend said, "Eat your vegetables!"

I admonished and corrected her: "You should say, "Eat all your food!' Because all foods matter."

She corrected herself and said to her child, "Eat all your food."

The kid took seconds on meat, potatoes, milk, soup, and dessert, ate them all, and still left the vegetables on the plate.

My friend glared at me and said to her kid, "Eat your vegetables! Dammit!"

The problem wasn't with the meat. The kid would eat the meat.

The problem wasn't with the potatoes. The kid would eat the potatoes.

The problem wasn't with the milk. The kid would drink the milk.

The problem wasn't with the soup. The kid would eat the soup.

The problem wasn't with the dessert. The kid would eat the dessert.

The problem was with the vegetables. Eat your vegetables, dammit!

Kids can be coaxed into eating vegetables. You just have to find out why they are not.

There are a lot of ways to use veggies.

Or just eat fresh from the garden.

to eat them I would gag and even throw up. My parents didn't give me too much grief over that but
grandparents did. One of the things I appreciate about being an adult is that NOBODY TELLS ME WHAT TO EAT. Thank you. I know my children are happy that I understood their own food
prejudices... Jeez isn't it bad enough being a kid without having a vegetable NAZI for a parent?

Raw tomatoes simply don't taste good to me and I don't know why.
