Only 1 in 4 Americans see Donald Trump as a man of faith

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/10/only-one-in-four-americans-see-donald-trump-as-a-man-of-faith-309895

As President Donald Trump leans on religion to reconnect with his political base ahead of the November election, most Americans dismiss the notion that he himself is a man of faith.

Only 27 percent of registered voters in a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll said they somewhat or strongly agree that Trump himself is religious, while 55 percent somewhat or strongly disagree. Among subgroups, just over a third of all Christians view the president as religious (50 percent do not), while 23 percent of Catholics and 18 percent of independents see him that way.

Evangelicals were more likely to view Trump as religious: 40 percent said they agreed that he is, while 33 percent disagreed.

Ideological conservatives and Republicans were the only demographics in which a majority of respondents characterized the president as religious — 55 percent and 60 percent, respectively.

It would seem, many are not buying that shit anymore. The bloom is well and truly off, so pulling this religious shit is backfiring bigtime.

i.e., corrupted it to serve their political party, to allow them to claim God chose a depraved man clearly destined for damnation to lead them to salvation. Damned good thing for them there's no hell, or they'd be joining him there.

How can anyone believe Trump is a religious man? Nothing says Christian like bragging about committing sexual assault on any woman unlucky enough to cross his path.
Seriously the 27% who said he was have got to have brain damage.

Jeffries runs a big, conservative, rich church and sucks up to all things trump. Is he the one who called trump a "baby christian?" No, Robert, he's just a baby.

Graham runs a decent charity that does some good, but it costs people their souls to work there if he requires them to denounce LGBTQ people.

I think its even worse in the US because the pulpit has been allowed to be politized especially during the Bush years.

IMO the liars posing as men and women of God, the people running so many religious broadcast and cable networks, the preachers-turned-politicos, and their credulous followers have a lot to answer for for praising Donald Trump and his efforts to lead this country down the road to Perdition.

It just goes to show that some people are muddle headed and brain dead.

I would guess that the next time he goes into church for a service, not a funeral or wedding will be the first time in decades and one of only a handful of times in his adult life.

These same people would say that Jimmy Carter was not a man of faith probably, even though he has lived his life according to the admonitions of Matthew 25 (When did I see you without clothes, or homeless, etc." And oh yeah, Jimmy continued to take his regular turn teaching the adult Sunday school class even during his Presidency (much to the chagrin of the secret service). And Jimmy stood up to hatred within his own denomination and left it even though he said he loved his fellow church members that he could not be a silent part of what he saw was wrong.

These same 25% believed that philandering Ronald was Christian. George HW who lied about being in the CIA and the Iran-Contra was a Christian. George W whose hedonistic exploits and great lies about WMD was a Christian.

As usual, if you have (R) next to your name that means you are (R)eligious.

So, we know that at least 25% of his base will vote for him and all (R) if they make it through Covid to November.
