(2,120 posts)....understanding of the law, but this document seems to really put the DOJ in it's place. It states that rules empower the courts "to protect their own proceedings from prosecutors who undertake corrupt, politically motivated dismissals" and that "that is what has happened here". Boom! In your face, Mr. Barr.

(2,120 posts)...to 1913, underscores the absurdity of the governments position. Add to that the previous Supreme Court decisions with Scalia dissenting, and you've got real entertainment.

(4,533 posts)I think his job here is to make this case, just like a prosecutors job is to convict and a defense attorneys job is to Get acquittal. I dont think his personal opinion matters in this role.

(4,533 posts)I just looked at his 82 page brief. It states that he was appointed to present arguments in opposition to the governments motion to dismiss charges against Flynn. Mr Gleason is required to take the position that the government motion should be denied. Just as a defense attorney is required to argue in favor of the accused. Even if Gleason believes the government is justified he must argue that it is not, stating the best reasons supporting the position that it is not.

(51,104 posts)Gleeson is all out of fucks to give and pulls no punches in destroying the DOJ's motion to dismiss.
The only area I wish he would have given more time to was the original prosecutor withdrawing and the motion to dismiss being signed by a political appointee.
It's a lengthy brief, but well worth the read.

(161 posts)Flynn must have some serious stuff on Dump. Remember 33 years in militarys intelligence culminated in the DIA position. Since being booted by President Obama in 2014 for some sketchy reason, he has been trying to cash in
