Hi Friend,
What we saw yesterday throughout this state was a disaster of democracy. After warnings from county officials and voters like you, the incompetence and malfeasance of Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger was on full display. We saw lines that were too long, mail ballots that arrived too late, and machines malfunction. County officials and poll workers worked tirelessly to make voting safe and accessible, but they were left without proper training and resources from the states top elections official.
Fair Fight Action is considering all options to ensure that voters do not face these same unconstitutional obstacles in November. We need your help to tell the story of what happened yesterday and document challenges faced by voters like you so that we can fight for every eligible Georgians right to be heard. Whether you voted in person or by mail, will you share your voting experience by clicking here?
I was inspired by folks turning out to vote despite the obstacles and organizing virtually as we continue to practice social distancing. Many voters cast their ballots as a critical step to changing a racially biased criminal justice system. Voting doesnt fix everything, but together, you showed that we must vote to begin the work that will bring the systemic change we seek.
November may seem far away, but we must act now to protect our elections and help our election officials run safe elections. No voter should have their ballot lost in the mail and no one should wait hours to vote in person. You can help us get there.
Thats why Im asking you to share your voting story, no matter what it is, by clicking here. Together, we can demand change at the ballot box to protect every eligible Georgians right to vote in November.
Thank you,
Stacey Abrams

(3,660 posts)And I drove by a couple of polling places that still had long lines well after the 7PM closing time. It's ridiculous that Georgia continue to get this so wrong. But bravo to everyone that waiting in lines well past closing time to vote. It gives me hope come this November.

In Georgia, the counties determine how many polling places they have, conduct the polls, etc. Dekalb and Fulton Counties were where the biggest and longest lines were. Those counties are run by Democrats.
MSNBC just had the Dekalb County Commissioner on -- a longtime and great Democrat. He said a lot of poll workers didn't show up yesterday because of CV19.
Well, by golly, didn't the county call them beforehand and get a commitment. If they couldn't make it, wasn't someone else assigned and trained. Jeez, we can't win if we shoot ourselves in the foot.
I'm fine with trying to blame it on KKKemp and Raffensperger; but, I don't think that is were most of the blame lies this time. In fact, Thurmond's comment was, "Well, there's plenty of blame to go around."
We have one chance in November to oust GOPers, and we can't lose a single vote in Dekalb or Fulton County. I want Lucy McBath to win too against Handel. Get it done.
And for, god's sake, people need to vote early or by mail.
