NASCAR fans explode with anger over Confederate flag ban: 'Good luck on filling those stands'

June 10, 2020

By Matthew Chapman

On Wednesday, NASCAR announced the Confederate battle banner would be prohibited at all of its events and properties.

But this decision did not go over well with fans, 80 percent of whom are white and 37 percent of whom are Southerners. In no time, NASCAR’s Facebook page was flooded with enraged reactions to the ban.

snip

“Bubba don’t like it Bubba should go find a new profession!” wrote one commenter. “Don’t come into a sport and try to change it! Not that he’s any good anyways!”

And still others warned that NASCAR will be unable to enforce the ban in the campgrounds around the tracks.

Fans aren't allowed in the stands at NASCAR events this year anyway. So, it's a clear indication of NASCAR ownership's desperation, that they would announced the banning of the traitors' flag at this particular time.

This move won't gain NASCAR any new fans, but it will certainly cost them some existing ones.

This banning may very well be the last nail in NASCAR's coffin.

Now that they are being flushed out...what to do with them?

Lock them away with infinite cheetos but no ways to communicate out their vileness...or ever leave.

The second largest source of income is sponsorship... again, irrelevant to whatever anti-American and subversive clothing fans may or may not want to wear to any particular race.

Ticket sales trail broadcast licensing and sponsorship by a Texas mile. Fans are little more than stage props.

willing to watch the races in some form, either at the event or on TV.

W/no fans, there's no people at races OR TV viewership ... conditions under which pretty much any professional/for-profit sport will die.

Sooner the better AFAIC with any sort of hydrocarbon-based racing ... other than maybe dirt bikes. Those are pretty low-impact.

If folks are going to proudly display a symbol, they should at least be honest about it's true meaning. Don't hide behind all that "southern heritage" bullshit. It's a slavers' flag, and they're commemorating treason.

Going back in time, the racial conflagrations have always been joined, after the kumbaya period ends, by what we have always called in civil-rights jargon, a backlash.

This incident will likely follow the same pattern.

A powerful backlash against the progress in race relations by the bigot brigade.

Fox Newsers and Tucker Carlson have already started their racist backlash against the progress coming out of the protests.

I suspect it's going to get worse and probably be led by Trump and of course, Fox

Trump made things significantly worse, he undid progress in race relations and gave voice to his bigot brigade. All the recent protests are a manifestation of the real backlash taking place in 2020: against Trump.

I don't give a damn about NASCAR. Don't watch it. But I like the fact that it's making their racist alt-right fans angry and threaten to boycott their races. Quite frankly they can all do away. Races are a waste of time and like somebody else said it's a major source of pollution.
