(32,088 posts)Wish he was here now, but the 2016 election probably would have killed him. He was a HUGE Hillary supporter.

Wobbly as a newborn colt at first, DU quickly found its footing and became quite adept at getting the truth out and making the GOP uncomfortable. The website was first class and easy to navigate.
Bartcop got me here. Wish he were still here. Trump in Tulsa. He woulda had a lot to say about that, enough to set the shellack that sets dipsy's hair in place on fire.
He was one righteous Okie. He is greatly missed.

(4,465 posts)Though I read Bartcop, and several other now-defunct liberal blogs, as well. Sadly, No! was a great hangout, for a long time. TBogg's place was fantastic, too, though I'm glad he's committing journalism over at Raw Story now. I can't do Raw Story. Even after I whitelisted the site on my adblocker, it kicks me off for having one at all. I'm glad there are posters here on DU who will link to the source stories.
Too many bloggers/commenters/activists gone before Bush even packed his bags, though the past three and a half years might, indeed, have done them in. Steve Gilliard comes to mind, and Bob Cesca's old partner Chez Pazienza. Some of my favorite posters on here from back in the day have passed, some of them far too young.
I never posted a lot here, and mostly in the Lounge and writing forums. Most of my post total comes from before 2004, when election night saw a lot of people banned for expressions of grief and attempts to assign blame. I felt burned out and stopped posting for a long time, but obviously I'm still hanging around!
I still check DU on the regular. It's one of the best places online for those of us on the left to find real news reporting from reliable sources. It's kind of like a Wikipedia for useful straight news articles, for me.
