Trump Suggests Civil War's End Was 'Questionable'

President Trump suggested Harris Faulkner in a Fox News interview that the Civil War ended questionably.

Said Trump: “I think I’ve done more for the black community than any other president, and let’s take a pass on Abraham Lincoln because he did good, although it’s always questionable, you know, in other words, the end result.”

Faulkner, who is black, interjected: “Well, we are free, Mr President, so he did pretty well.”

Because I figured that it is a joke, as well. Then I realized, does it matter? Because everything that Trump does and says and IS, is a joke.

Granted, it is a sick joke on humanity at large, but many cultures give a great deal of credence to a Trickster god or figure who spends more time focused on human affairs than the creator god of their belief systems.

are themselves clever beings. Yes, they create situations where humans can make fools of themselves and they stir up trouble, but many of them are respected to a degree in their cultures because their role is to make people think.

Trump IS the joke in this case, not the one foisting the joke upon us. The challenge being offered to humanity here is to see through him and avoid making fools of ourselves by taking him seriously as a leader.

(Taking him seriously as a threat to our values is another issue altogether.)

Which is bad for him because his base should be locked in right niw. For the most part they are, but those on the fringes are getting nerbous, so he has to play this kind of stuff instead of going after new voters. He is in a weak position, and that's right where we want him.

The "end result" could also be the slavery issue and the Emancipation Proclamation, however it is crafty because you could attribute it to the assassination. Clever.

I wonder if he is designing these cues himself or in league with Miller?

That's base signaling. They know what he is suggesting there.

I figured that out when I was a kid. Go through the home in Springfield. That was NOT how regular people lived.
He was a quite successful lawyer and did pretty good in real estate.
So Lincoln, unlike PINO, actually was wealthy without having to live off borrowed money.

That's the real mark of a successful presidency in his eyes, I suspect.

If he turns a tidy profit, he'll think of himself as a successful president even if he loses in November.

I said he was a lawyer.
But, his RR work created relationships with land planners & real estate folks.
He got the opportunity to invest money that turned out pretty great. And, no shenanigans. Just a handful of good and fair deals on land, rights of way, and easements. Which of course, railroads found critical to business.
Ok, today that might violate SEC as inside information, but it was completely legit then.

He can help himself. When he's not flat out lying, he is making comments that expose him as the ignorant buffoon that he is.

I'd like to see a daily DU poll on which daily Trump utterance makes the National Trump Daily stupid, deceitful remark of the Day. Maybe a separate topic forum so the info can be shared.

Fri Jun 12, 2020, 04:28 PM

Simple question: "What do you mean 'questionable' end? Please explain yourself.

Then keep pressing as he dances around. If he leaves the interview, then you say, "All I did was ask him to explain a statement that made no sense, and he ran away."

He said, "Prison reform", okay, "Tell me, what was the policy that you reformed and what positive effect has that had on people of color and Black people?"

Again, when he starts to dance and use words like, "Greatest, Beautiful, Powerful", you say, "Yes you are using all of these adjectives but what EXACTLY was it that you did? What was the change that was made, and what evidence based, substantive changes did it have according to your claim?"

When he leaves the interview calling you a "horrible reporter" you just turn to the camera and say, "All I was doing was asking to actually explain, in a way that makes sense, what he did and what effect it has had, and he ran away from the interview".

1) Reconstruction, which was the end result of the war, was a massive failure, and led to Jim Crow and over a century of oppression and systemic racism;

2) Lincoln was assassinated.

I don’t think Trump was referring either of these end results.
