Joyce is a servant leader and has been involved in her community helping others. She is a Registered Nurse and Business Owner with a commitment to service and over 25 years of experience. Joyce knows economic growth in district 151 will help everyone. She comes from a working family that taught her a strong work ethic and learned that in order to succeed you must stay focused. Joyce has steadily been engaged in delivering positive outcomes. Her campaign and lifestyle are committed to integrity, courage, creativity, growth, inclusiveness and improvement.

Her career is covered with continued determination such as serving through various modes to help others. Joyce has spoken before state senators and representatives about matters of relevance for the people of Georgia. She has been instrumental in state-level working committees, helped establish new state rules and regulations for personal care homes, assisted living facilities, proxy caregivers and Georgia Alzheimer’s Initiative. Additionally, she has met with legislators referencing certain house and senate bills that would have a negative impact on the district.

She was also successful in explaining and delivering a message to legislators that resulted in community care providers receiving a rate payment increase. She understands that District 151 must have affordable healthcare with Medicaid Expansion, protect women's healthcare rights, economic development and increase funding for quality basic education grades K-12.

Joyce has served on numerous nonprofit and for-profit boards. She is the 2016 Recipient of the Distinct Award for Servant Leadership given by the Georgia Women’s Legislative Caucus nominated by Senator Freddie Powell-Sims, Winner of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Award (for community service & business acumen) , Graduate of Leadership Albany, Past President of the Georgia Association of Community Care Providers, Small Business of the Year Winner (twice), and served as the Vice Chairman of the Albany/Dougherty County Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chair of Girls, Inc and a former board member of Southwest Georgia Workforce Investment Board, former board member Liberty House Battered Women's Shelter. Currently she is the chairman of Innovative Housing, Division of Albany Public Housing and board member of Synovus Bank in Albany, GA. She is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and serves as the Health and Wellness Co-Chair.

Her engagement and service to the community is outstanding and as a small business owner, she understands the dynamics of maintaining a successful business. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Barry University and has done graduate work at St. Joseph College in Business Administration and an Masters in Business Administration from American Century University.
