Can someone explain to me about the bible thing? A group of peaceful protestors are gassed,

harassed, hit with rubber bullets, corralled. . All so that the racist in chief can walk across the street to hold up a book that he has never read, and then stroll back, all without saying a word???? I kept figuring I just wasn't bothering with the audio, sinceI cannot stand his voice.

What in the nine circles of hell was the friggen point?

Franklin Graham and Robert Jeffress (preacher 1st Bapt Dallas) have said so quite strongly

Graham scolded Episcopalians for complaining. Pointed out they're not 'real, true' Christian's b/c they accept LGBTQ people. 'Real' ones like Evangelicals harshly condemn them and throw them out of their churches and families

Are LIVID that he used it as a prop, without permission. Episcopalians are usually liberal and Dolt 45 goes against everything they believe.

The Bible is a collection of writings compiled over centuries. Some of its contents were written by sincere people who were inspired by the idea of the divine. Some of its contents were written by people with specific social and/or nationalistic agendas. None of its contents were written by human amanuensis-es who were channeling an actual divine being in inking out "Absolute Truth".

Because the Bible was written by human beings with different human motivations, humans down through the ages have picked through its contents for inspiration and justification regarding almost any point of view you can imagine.

There are sincere people who look to its more noble contents to encourage themselves and others to work towards noble goals. Then there is pretty much everybody else.

Trump and his followers are in the second category. And that especially includes those who mouth off about following Jesus Christ and actually follow Trump.

Obviously, I don't believe that the Bible is true. But it would almost be worth it to be sent to hell to see the Trumpsters furiously condemned by the God they think they are following for being the most self-righteous and stupid idolaters ever.

That the bible can be interpreted in a way to excuse sociopathy.

Got that one on my bookshelf. (Actually it is a book tower.) I also have Barbara Walker's Women's Encyclopedia of Secrets and Myths and Crone and The Skeptical Feminist. And I have Language of the Goddess by Marija Gimbutas.

Feminist spirituality is a particular interest of mine. A young friend met the writer, Starhawk, and got my copy of The Spiral Dance autographed for me.

Note: Most of these books were purchased when I was still married to my fundamentalist husband. This shows that I have a slight rebellious streak even though I am not a confrontational person by nature. It also explains why I know so much about the Bible.

As you can probably guess from my avatar, feminist spirituality is my interest as well. So much is being rediscovered, (re-membering, putting back together,, as Mary Daly said).

Have your read "The Great Cosmic Mother" by Barbara Mor and Monica Sjoo? Utterly fascinating.

I was excommunicated from the rcc for daring to question the patriarchy. And that was before all the books we are mentioning!

Like a photo-op, but boiled down to it's most obvious essence -- the photos -- without any of the pretense of a normal photo-op (e.g. pretending to worship at the church, pretending to work in a soup kitchen, etc.).

That's it. And by the way, there's not enough people saying this: HE GASSED HIS OWN PEOPLE.

But anyway, that's why he gassed his own people. To pose for a picture.

He's posing for this picture while the victims of his gassing are screaming in the streets.
