I'm not thrilled with everything Obama has done, but the idea of one of these whackjobs having their finger on the button as President scares the hell out of me.

We have two major parties and voting third party just lets the GOP win. Until the system is changed, this just isn't viable on the national level. And the stakes are too high to make a statement or send a message.

When is it time? When will all of this happen? The way I see it is Americans have become more and more black and white with the republican/democratic party.

I am voting for Obama in November, but I don't see a shift happening any time soon as long as money controls government.

I have respect for the man.

But let's not get carried away here. If Huntsman were a Democrat and thus compared to Democrats instead of Republicans, he'd be about as popular around here as Joe Lieberman.

so I'm not getting carried away. My only point is, as others have stated, he sounds sane and rational. The only field I included for making the assessment was Republicans.

I don't think we disagree here. You said yourself that you're judging him against Republicans. In that scenario, I agree with you. If I were a Republican, I'd probably be supporting him the primaries.

My point was that if he were a Democrat, he would actually be less popular around here than he is as Republican.

But I agree with you in spirit. He's the best the a Democrat could hope for in that field. That also means he's going to be about as relevant in this election cycle as Mike Gravel was in 2008.

I thought he was the one who might give President Obama a run for his money. He is probably the first Utah Republican politician I could stomach while living there. However, no worries. I totally underestimated how truly bat shit the Republican Party has become. He never stood a chance in hell.

beingtimes being interviewed on the Michael Smerconish Show. Michael, a Republican-turned Independent 2008 Obama voter seems to love the guy. He's about the only Republican running this year that I wouldnt be scared to death to live under but I'd rather Obama be re-elected all the same. Huntsman really just seems to be spinning his wheels anyway. The GOP "base" doesn't really like or trust Mitt but they'll ultimately take him b/c he's so willing to pander to them. There also just doesn't seem to be a thirst among GOP primary voters for a more *moderate* "not Romney".

Obama wins this year, but Biden will be 74 in 2016, so I don't see Joe moving from VP to just plain old P. I also don't see a fresh new face for us to run that year, with the possible exception of Elizabeth Warren. Just for fun, look to whomever gets the keynote speech at the Dem convention to get an idea where the D party is headed.

Huntsman sees the next step for his party, and with his comparative sanity, and $$ backing, he'll be a Prime-Time player. I betcha $5 right now Huntsman is the 2016 candidate.

we dont need any more conservadems that I wont vote for, and the republicans need all the sane people they can get.

I hope people realize that the drive to get sane republicans is the reason the democrats have become so antiworking class and pro wall street.
