Once you adopt smearing your opponent in a Party primary, usually you cannot stop. Like a junkie needing an ever greater dose for the same kick, you lose awareness of any standard or limit to the joyful rush of attacking your foe. All very well against a real enemy, but anyone who views another Democrat as their real enemy has no business seeking nomination by the Democratic Party.
