Assuming Biden wins, I very much doubt he'll run for a second term and if he were to lose, the running mate would be the early favorite to win the nomination in 2024.
Just my opinion.

(130,933 posts)chance for first Woman + Woman ticket, considering the large number of highly qualified women on the stage now!
(NOT thinking Joe will lose, but his VP will stand for Prez in next election, whether '24 or later.)
(FIRST time I've said this ANYWHERE, and anxious about jinxing, so I'll be quiet about it now.)

(5,311 posts)and I'm sure he'll serve only one term. He's the right man at the right time to stabilize the country and pass the baton to the next generation of democrats. I just turned 70 this week so I likely won't see that many more administrations, hopefully I'll never see another republican administration.

If we dont crush trump and the republicans then we dont actually have a free election system and they will have perpetrated the greatest theft in history.
If that occurs then our country is finished.
This is an existential election.

There will be movements very much like what there is in Quebec.
Personally, I think it will happen anyway but Bidens election just stalls it by a few years. Much like the Compromise of 1850 bought us 10 years before a civil war.
Could end up like the final split of the Roman Empire in 395AD. The Eastern half continued for another 1000 years. The Western half was gone in about 70.

(6,044 posts)People are coming together to defeat Trump-but the fissure in our party and the country will not be healed by 2024-the fissures will be wider and deeper.
The election of of Obama in 2008 did not make us a post-racist society as so many were claiming at the time and the election of a "not-Trump" s not going to produce healing no matter which vp is selected.
I see the vp selection process as extremely sloppy and manipulativeandf resulting in more disappointments than enthusiasm.
