Any Good News? We could all use some.

I am headed into my worst time of the year. Fucking 4th of July. Heard my first fireworks yesterday. My dogs just get so weird. It is almost impossible to get them outside.

So I need some good news today.

KCMO. We have rain this morning. That's good. It cools things down.

I have some pet sitting jobs this weekend. That's good.

I can still pay my bills. I feel lucky about that.

I can breathe.

How about you guys?

TEB! How lucky you are! Golden Retriever puppies are the sweetest things in the world! My brother just got one. Her name is Ellie. She is just beautiful!

I'm so happy for you! There is nothing better than a new puppy!

She doesn’t have to stress about the unsettled school situation.

My son-in-law returned to his job after being furloughed. More importantly, he paid attention to the news.

He promised to vote in November and take two friends.

I'm taking the afternoon off. It's been a long week.

It's a sunny day again here in Boston, but going to be around 90 degrees, which is too hot for me. I have the AC on, but it's going to cost me a fortune this month since I am not at work and can't sponge off their AC. However, I am not spending that much money on other things, so it should be a wash.

I'm still employed with health insurance, yet we haven't heard anything about going back to the office, which is fine with me. I am enjoying the wfh thing. I don't miss the daily grind at all. I have everything I need and I am comfortable. I feel very grateful for my circumstances. There are some things I do miss, but it's a trade-off.

All in all, things are good. I'm pretty happy with my personal life. I would just like Trump and a handful of other republicans gone for good, however I am more optimistic than ever that we will prevail. I believe the tide is turning.

I'm not sick. In fact, I am in good health and feel fortunate for that.

Hope everyone is doing well and wishing everyone a good weekend!

He came into the world with a whimper, not a bang. After 3 days in NICU and 1 day in the nursery, we were able to bring him home. He will be 19 this year, starting his sophomore year in college. Healthy as a horse.

His 1st grade teacher voted him "Most Likely to Work in the Pentagon" His high school bandmates voted him "The most Likely to play The Imperial March in a loop for the rest of his life" - the Star Wars theme song.

I tell him, he's so laid back, laid back wants to be him.

about the hairdresser who infected her co-worker with Covid and between them they serviced 200+ people? (Stay with me! The good news is coming!)

I was very happy to see the followup on that story. Both women and all customers were masked while they were having their hair done and NONE of the 200+ customers got sick.

Not only am I very happy for those people, but it also shows there ARE really effective ways for us to live our lives and stay safe.

Hang in there!

* Got my KY mail-in primary ballot yesterday. Reviewing it now. I get to vote for my choice for a candidate to run against McConnell!

* Daughter and granddaughter are visiting me Sunday for Father's Day. Will get to show them the progress on my little flower garden plot.

* Son is doing well with his college work (lives here with me) and is staring a new quarter - all on-line until further notice.

* Skillet grilled us some chicken tenders a couple of days ago and they turned out great. Still working on my cooking chops since my wife passed last year and re-learning cooking has become one of my escapes from depression.

* I'm grateful that this morning is unusually quiet in our busy little neighborhood.

I can relate to your worry about the 4th and all the noise, as I'm a highly-sensitive person (HSP) and fireworks/loud vehicles/barking dogs/lawn mowers are a nerve-wracking distraction.

Thanks for posting, Leftyladyfrommo.......

Plenty of negative bricks on my back as well but I try not to dwell on those, especially on DU.

But your post gave me the opportunity to get away from the bad and show some gratitude, and that always makes me feel better!

14. I finally landed a new job yesterday

Lost my previous job due to COVID effect on my company. Got offered a position at a bank six weeks ago.

So why yesterday? Anyone offered a bank job (I'm in IT) there is an extensive background check. Due to COVID, and those background check workers being on a skeleton crew, it took six weeks to complete the background check. That's right, six weeks. Became official yesterday though. Been going crazy with the wait.

We are going to a newly renovated restaurant that has large spacious outside seating underneath the canopy of beautiful large oak trees.

I will wear a mask walking through the restaurant and take it off when served. I am happy to be getting together with everyone at the same time, but a little nervous too.

I'm getting cataract surgery next week in 1 eye and then the other eye a week later - I will be happy to be able to see again out of my left eye and to have the vision in my other eye be more clear. I paid for the multi-focal lens, so should be able to see perfectly out of both eyes for the first time since I was a small child. Wow!

Will be wearing a mask and will be outside during the afternoon when it's hot (FL), but in the shade of a tree and will be well socially distanced from the other patrons. Things could be even worse in the fall, winter when bugs usually flourish. After tomorrow, I will only be going to the dr. next week for long awaited cataract surgery which I desperately need since I can barely see out of my left eye now and it hurts all the time. Otherwise, I am at home for the next 2 weeks.
