Conservative advertisements on DU

I for the life of me don’t understand why I always see trump and conservative advertising on this site (obviously before I login).....doesn’t seem like a smart investment, are they paying DU to run these adds? Or maybe I don’t understand how advertising works?

7. I run Adblock Plus and uBlock on Firefox and I don't see any ads at all... that's really MY issue...

I Google on Trump all the time because I don’t want to be ignorant of the evil this guy is committing. Also I enjoy the replies to his Twitter posts. I assume that’s why I see the ads.

For a couple weeks, all I saw were ads for face masks, because I had bought some online.
