Snip

In a column for the Daily Beast, author Molly Jong-Fast expressed both disgust and sadness over Donald Trump Jr’s Thursday night sycophantic interview with his dad to drive up interest in his “Triggered” YouTube video, calling it a “sad” attempt to get his father to love him.

With a subhead stating, “Watching Donald Trump Jr. interview Donald Trump Sr. was crazy, and f*cked up, but mostly it was sad,” Jong-Fast said the namesake son of the president “seemed alarmingly excited to ‘get’ his dad.

Jr. is going to end up like me.

I had an abusive father. My sister kept telling me to shut up or I'd be out of the Will.

So Dad died. We listened to the Will being read by his attorney.

He disinherited not only me, but my sister and my brother. And left $35,000 to the neighbor across the street.

Trust me. As long as it's legal to disinherit your children, Donald J. has already made provisions to cut out Jr.

He has so much more fun paying guides to cut off parts of dead animals he shot just to take a photo holding up proudly, like he really accomplished something.

tRump's brats would have fit right in with Saddam's boys that terrorized Iraq, regardless of what anyone who defends them has to say. Jr. probably gets a hard on reading about the reports of them.

I kept fast forwarding hoping to see something remotely interesting, but nada. Two profoundly stupid people having a conversation does not make for a watchable interview.

Also, I can't stand the sight of either one of them. Especially Trump Sr. He really makes my skin crawl. If I had to choose, I would say he is by far the most evil, sadistic, sociopathic member of the family. The man has no feelings for anyone but himself.

I can't stand Junior, but there is a small part of me that feels a little bit sorry for him because he was raised by such an awful, abusive father and he still so pathetically wants his father's love and recognition.

The whole thing, from what I could tell from the little bit I watched, was just a train wreck. It was just really sad.

It sounds like they were trying to be "playful" for Father's Day which is upcoming.

The problem is that they are ALL absolutely HORRIFIC people. Just not a shred of decency in any of them. So any attempts at normal interaction seem twisted and sad.

You can imagine President Obama being interviewed by Sasha or Malia or President Clinton by Chelsea. There would be a natural flow of conversation by people who share love, respect, and can be playful with each other. For Trump and his offspring, everything is transactional and I may be speaking out of turn, but I do not get the impression that there is any genuine feelings of love between them. I mean the kids may "love" Trump out of a sense of obligation and a fantasy bond, that is common in children with estranged parents. You can, however, tell from their interactions that they are not comfortable with each other and there is something very off.

That leads to the sad, pathetic vibe that is given when they try to do something "natural".
