(4,131 posts)But Trump is a much weaker candidate than he was in 2016.
In 2016 Democrats and Independents thought Trump was an incompetent racist boob. In 2020 we know exactly how dangerous he is. Folks are highly motivated to kick him to the curb.
Ive never seen an incumbent hated so passionately but so many.

(1,604 posts)mudslinging directed at him. The GOP is also playing defense this time around, and watching Biden, I think he knows exactly what he's doing - largely by letting Trump hang himself.

(52,169 posts)Biden did way better than her in the primaries (both before it was down to just him and Sanders and after that). In 2016, it was essentially a two person race from the start and she tied Iowa, lost NH by a ton, won NV, and then swept the South. Despite being way ahead in delegates she still lost MI to him and had only narrow victories in MO and WI. Conversely Biden won every contest but 2 once SC was done, and won many of them by very large margins. One thing though is that we got rid of caucuses which helped Biden (he likely won on MN, WA, and ME due to that. I will say, that it is quite a bit of sexism as to why this is true but it is true.
