I could be wrong, but I believe the last time a Democrat had a lead like this in the summer of the election year, was 1988 when Dukakis lead G.H. W. Bush. What turned things around for Bush? It was the Willie Horton adds. He went hot and heavy on race and culture to win the election. This is 2020 - it's not going to work, and as a matter of fact, it seems to be working against him. The American people are rejecting his us vs them, black vs white rhetoric. Trump is a severe case of narcissistic personalty disorder. That means that he will not abandon his delusions that he can win with politics of division and without expanding from his base. Unless, for some inexplicable reason Trump goes to a mental health expert and asks for help, I don't think that he can win this election.
That doesn't mean that we should all sit on our hands and not do what we can to help elect Joe.

(4,613 posts)a potentially hobbled Post Office (which he's trying to kill/maim), all sorts of Republican vote suppression and a possible Autumn Second Wave of Corona just in time for the Election. Wouldn't put him past starting a war somewhere too. I'll crawl on my knees to vote if I have to, but I ain't counting any chickens just yet.

(3,434 posts)that it would be too obvious. Trump may try to go there but I don't think it will happen. Most of the Republicans wouldn't follow him on it. The courts would only go so far. The propaganda isn't going to save him this time; the people are on to it.

(117 posts)Many Americans are bigots. Dont think for a minute that many who might not want to admit their support for Trump and his racist agenda now will not be voting him once they are alone in the voting booth.
