Once you have an organ transplant, the only way you can keep your body from attacking it is to suppress your immune system. If your immune system is suppressed, you are at risk for catching everything going around - including COVID 19.

Praising someone very high risk for wearing a mask is bizarre. It should be a given that someone that high risk has to wear a mask.

But the adoring crowds probably aren't familiar enough with the aftermath of a transplant to know the extreme risk to his health. (I know close to 100 transplantees, because of my daughter's disease - so I am intimately familiar with the implications.)

So I'm in favor of modeling good behavior, because it might make a difference. If that takes a bit of praise for an idiot to encourage others to follow his example I can live with that.

Prior to Covid. At least the ones WE transplant. He’s not impressing me.

I'm interested in saving lives. Most people are not familiar enough with post-transplant protocols to know how vulnerable those individuals are.

So if I have to give a little undeserved praise to encourage modeling good behavior, I'm good with that.

I just think it's surprising that he'd come out publicly in favor of mask-wearing, contrary to the received doctrine of the Trumpublican Party.

He has to take immuno suppressant drugs for the rest of his life. He is very high risk if he were to get covid. He is not resisting anything, he is trying to save his own behind.

Cheney is Trump's political ancestor. There might be no Trump but for Cheney. Cynical manipulation of the media? Cheney. Pushing a an unnecessary war in an election year based on false pretenses? Cheney.

No Cheney, no Iraq War. No Iraq War, no ISIS and general destabilization of the ME. No ISIS and destabilization, no refugee crisis. No ISIS and no refugee crisis, no "president" Trump.

Trump is too simple-minded to be Cheney's descendant. Palin is the one who paved the way for acceptance of Trump.
