stephen king tweets about pence

Last edited Sat Jun 27, 2020, 03:10 AM - Edit history (1)

Given his Christian beliefs, Mike Pence must believe the day will come when he will have to stand before the throne of God and explain why he put politics ahead of human lives in the matters of masks and public gatherings.

I've had the chance of acquaintances and friends that have a 'belief' in God, but may not be 'churched', and who display Christ's teaching and are vessels of His love exponentially more vast than those who assume they do everything 'right' except for their 'actions'. I do not judge, but there are such stark moments when one simply takes notice. There are those whose 'pledge' and actions do not match.

Atheists have a set of values. They have to do with honesty, morality and consideration for other humans.

Organized religion has stolen those values and done it's best to twist them around for their own purposes.

I reject any religion that seems to have stolen those values as their own, and sell them to their worshippers.
That's pretty much every modern religion really, except pure forms of Buddhism and Zoroastrianism. (Google that.)

Political Christians rather than Christians of faith.

They support Trump who says he is so perfect that he does not need Christ or his forgiveness.

Like today's evangelical/religious right supporters, Trump is a Political Christian, not a Christian of faith.

Evangelicals/religious right are easily able to spin their beliefs for political expediency.

The Donald who does not have to ask Jesus for forgiveness.

The Donald who ridicules Holy Communion.

They are ways one may lose his/her salvation by deliberate acts.

Orthodox Christianity teaches--"I was saved, I am being saved, I continue to be saved." It's a process. Theosis. "Not once and done." Other Christian groups freak out at this. What do they think Acts in the New Testament are all about.

Also, Orthodoxy teaching that the hell some will find themselves in is not a physical geographical place. It is a condition the soul finds itself in and does experience God. Seeing Him but not being able to partake of His Goodness at that point. A chasm separates that soul who then has bitter 'tears' and 'heartache' for his condition. This is the unending 'fire' that cannot be quenched.

I would bet his church preaches that for Christians, there are zero consequences in the afterlife, no matter what they did here on earth. Christians don't have to explain anything, all their sins have been washed away by the blood of Christ, and it's just as if those sins never happened.

I've experienced too many devout hypocrites to doubt that's not just possible but probable. He epitomizes in this era the very old and entrenched belief systems that link service to the very wealthy with service to god. And nothing's more common than finding ways to believe that whatever one wants is virtuous.

and that is what we were taught. By the ripe old age of about six I had figured out that was just another way to get you to visit church regularly. And, you know, drop a little cash while you were there. God is all powerful, he created heaven and earth and he can provide eternal salvation. He just has problems with money. He needs your help with some cash.

he's written about it IN depth many times in his novels and there's no one better at it IMHO:

https://www.popmythology.com/10-most-spiritual-stephen-king-books/

I mean, we are seeing it play out in REAL time. One of the things no one is talking about is how Biden and the Dems need to really try and restore sanity to this country if/when he gets elected. To me, it's imperative that the party and people with good intentions who respect and follow the rule of LAW reinforce and if possible, cement that back into the fabric of our constitution. Scariest part of all is the fact that this S.O.B. and Jabba the Barr and McTurtle have now overseen the appointment of 200 judges, I believe all with lifetime appointments. NO one really knows how scary that will be going forward but I have a suspicion it could ruin us all. Look at the sorry excuse for two humans in the DC court that just voted to acquit Flynn. So compromised, so dirty and SO obvious. Fucking infuriates me.

I WILL end with this statement: anyone that thinks I'm advocating rolling over and being the 'adults in the room' after all the Repukes have gotten away with is sorely mistaken. Sure, I absolutely believe our party must restore order, but before that is done most every god awful, repugnant, criminal act this rogue administration has been guilty of needs to be pursued, prosecuted and if at all possible...reversed. Sounds so rosy doesn't it? That's where their judges come into play. No telling HOW many years it will take to undo this damage folks. Then they plan on re=taking the white house in 2024 after sabotaging every GD thing Joe and his administration will try to do. It's the only thing they do well: sew chaos, lie, cheat and steal. They sure as shit can't govern. Last decent Repub POTUS in terms of governing was Ike to my knowledge. I wasn't alive, but he at least SEEMED sane. Nixon and every one since has been rotten to the CORE.

It’s an issue of consistency. Pence professes to have faith in Jesus to help his political career, he’s not committed to all that “love thy neighbor as thyself” stuff.

He consistently behaves as if his faith is in Trump not Jesus. In Pence’s life, his actions are guided by “WWTD”—What Would Trump Do.

That’s makes him the worst type of Christian follower, a loudmouth hypocrite..by Pence’s own standard. Pence set the bar—follow the teachings of Jesus—and then limbos under every difficult requirement. He fails by his own standard of devoted Christianity.
