I hope you all see the importance of this poll.
The option to say that both are important is equating name calling with murder.
I am not giving the option to say that both are important, and I am definitely not giving the option to say that both are EQUALLY important.
There may be some of you who are unfamiliar with the history of Emmett Till. Emmett Till was 14 years old, lived in Chicago (no lynching), visiting relatives in Mississippi (frequent lynching) in the summer of 1965. Please remember. He is 14 years old. Barely a teen. A white woman accused him of "offending" her in a grocery store. Offending her. The court record says "flirted, made verbal and physical advances". A 14 year old boy. Her husband and brother-in-law abducted the boy. They took him away and beat and mutilated him before shooting him in the head and sinking his body in the Tallahatchie River. A 14 year old boy. For virtually nothing. And were acquitted for his murder. On her deathbed, this woman admitted that this 14 year old boy DID NOTHING WRONG.
Now, in comparison to this, is the use of the word "Karen".
Maybe it seems sexist, misogynistic. To put a nice, common, "innocent", typically white, woman's name to racist, manipulative behavior that can get a black man killed, typically through lying.
My cousin is named Karen. She is black. I will ask her which SHE feels is more important and let you know what she says.

Update: heard from 2 black Karens. They think all of the Karen controversy is a distraction from the more important issue.

It is more important to stop using the word "Karen" to describe lying, racist, manipulative behavior, solely enacted by white women that has the potential to get black men killed.

It is more important to eradicate the power of lying, racist, manipulative white women who are able, by their power, and the power of stereotyping, to get a black man killed.

I'm alive to tell the tales. Many BIPOC are not.
