The Case for Susan Rice

One name stands out: Susan Rice

Vice President Biden? Joe?

You and she were there for President Obama’s funding the U.S. CyberCommand's establishment.

You and she are experienced and well respected internationally.

She will not diminish Democratic Party numbers in the Senate.

She will ADD so much more to rebuild our international alliances while you rebuild our domestic and military strengths.

You both have had the most experience in building a 2,000+ person transition team of professionals and experts who can hit the ground running in 2021.

Susan Rice's civilian interface with the U.S. Military will make her as good a commander-in-chief as any candidate of either party in 2024.

Please, Joe, choose Susan Rice for your VP.

America knows you, and the world will welcome you both back.

Excerpts from Wikipedia:

Born in DC, valedictorian of her all-glrs prep school, Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford, Doctorate from Oxford.

Her doctoral dissertation was entitled Commonwealth Initiative in Zimbabwe, 1979–1980: Implications for International Peacekeeping. Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, honored her dissertation as the UK's most distinguished in international relations.[

Rice played a major role in peace negotiations between Ethiopia and Eritrea during the Eritrean–Ethiopian War, leading to the Algiers Agreement in 2000 ending the conflict.

In 2008 Rice was named to the advisory board of the Obama–Biden Transition Project.

Rice served as National Security Advisor for Obama, US Ambassador to the United Nations, served as Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and in the National Security Council under Clinton.

During her tenure at the United Nations, Rice championed a human rights and anti-poverty agenda, elevated climate change and women's rights as global priorities, and committed the U.S. to agreements such as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the U.N. Millennium Development Goals. Rice led the fight to advance LGBT rights at the U.N. Human Rights Counciland was recognized for her staunch defense of Israel at the Security Council.[

Rice informed the House Intelligence Committee in September 2017 that she requested the unmasking because of a redacted report provided by the intelligence services concerning an undisclosed visit to the United States by United Arab Emirates crown prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in December 2016. During the visit al-Nahyan met with Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn and Jared Kushner at Trump Tower in New York.

After U.S. Senator Susan Collins from Maine voted in favor of Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, Rice publicly considered a challenge to Collins in 2020.

She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Aspen Strategy Group.

In 2017, Rice was presented with the Award of Commander, the Legion of Honour of France, by French president François Hollande for her contributions to Franco-American relations.

In 2008, with President-elect Obama

A. Even her own son thinks she's wrong about everything! He prefers Trump to his mother and Biden! If her own son can't support her, how could anyone else?

B. BENGHAZI!

Not fair, but reality.

But that's only one of two "issues" that she can put aside before the public.

She WILL give Black America someone they can trust as much as they trust Biden.

But, at this point, I prefer Susan Rice as our VP candidate (given Joe’s stated requirements—a woman who is ready to be President on day 1). Susan Rice best fits that bill, imo.

I'm all for it, she is the best candidate for the job, and being ready to step in as President.
Too many people were scared of Republican attack points regarding Benghazi, but she is the best choice.
Kamala Harris is the favorite, she looks great and I would support her if she was the choice, but I trust Rice a whole lot more.

Aside from the sideshows of Benghazi and her son, she is not well known nationally (except for controversy), has no natural constituency, and no real experience in domestic policy. Biden doesn’t need a running mate to shore up his foreign policy gravitas, he has it himself.

I’m also not sure what you mean about 2024. If Biden is healthy he will run. That being said, even if the slot is open in 2024, I think it is far from safe to assume that an incumbent VP would clear the field of serious challengers, especially after the relative success of insurgents in 2016 and 2020, I think it would be a competitive primary.

She's never held elective office.

I adore Susan Rice and think she'd excel at just about anything she chooses to do.

However, god forbid, should something happen to Biden, having a President who never held elective office will be an issue.

You may be saying, "Well, Trump . . ." Exactly. Trump. Americans might not want to go that route after this spectacular clusterfuck.

But I'm open-minded. If he chooses her, I will be enthusiastic about it. She's a stellar public servant and human being.

Not just Trump. Dwight D. Eisenhower wasn't bad. Just sayin'.

It's not as if she wouldn't have all the executive wisdom of Obama and other presidents to help her. So there's that.

...for experience, you gotta go with Rice. But since I've been a Kamala fan for over 4 years now, I'm finding it hard to let her go. Suffice it to say, we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to who will eviscerate Pence in the VP debate.

Secretary of State would be my vote.

All due respect to Dr. Rice, her brand is "foreign policy guru," and Joe Biden does not lack there. The best VP choices are about balancing the ticket, and I'm not sure what she helps Biden with.

Has anyone ever seen her on a debate stage? Can anyone point to statements on health care, education, or fiscal policy?

She doesn't have the political characteristics to justify the baggage she'd bring to the ticket. From everything I've seen, turnout is going to be the difference between a landslide Biden victory and a narrow Biden loss, and I just don't see what Rice does for turnout.

I'll be happy to be wrong, however. If Biden selects her, it's because he truly feels she is most capable of becoming president, and I respect that.

Because if the ticket doesn’t win everything else is irrelevant. Unfortunately Rice is a poor choice. She has never run for office before. Having her on the ticket will give the GOP an excuse to bring up Benghazi again. She doesn’t help flip any swing states. And she won’t help attract progressive voters to the ticket. There are better choices.
