Remember the awful neighbor who called the police because of a patio? There's a fabulous sequel.

Here’s a Karen story that starts wrong but then goes right.

In short, Permit Karen has been harassing her two Black neighbors over a patio they’re putting in.

Made a scene. Alleged assault. Called police.

But then her neighbors stepped to her. [video]

And then the town’s FB groups absolutely blew up over the incident.

Policing her neighbors’ backyard, the false accusation, the call to cops.

The town was outraged. It doesn’t put up with this kind of shit.

And a few hours later this was her street.

After all, if she's worried about others not being in code, she should be 100% in code.

All within about 2 hours. They all dropped what they were doing, cut a piece of cardboard, got out the markers and headed into the street!!!

That is hilarious and gratifying all rolled into one. She even got called out for not wearing a mask!

I hope the new patio is a great success, and that the couple are in time able to have a party on it with a lot of new friends, while Susan is left outside to stew in her own juices.

I used to live on a nice neighborly street, with one nut case, Rita, and her enabling husband — across the street and 3 houses down from me. I never knew much about them for like 20 years, until her actual next door neighbor unburdened herself to me in a frantic moment. Poor little Olga wouldn’t hurt a fly, and the bullying had been intense. Who knew?

Sharon, next door to Olga and directly across from me, was originally from New Jersey and a real no-nonsense nurse by profession. Sharon filled me in, and yikes. Rita made the lives of those directly next door to her and directly across the street from her just miserable. Probably across the fence in back as well. She watched. She commented. She bitched. Rinse, repeat. According to Sharon, Rita was responsible for the departure of a family across the street from her, with her constant fault finding of their children, who did awful things like play basketball in their own driveway.

She tried some of that on Sharon when Sharon moved in, but Sharon was having none of it. Yay, New Jersey.

The more I heard, the more I realized Rita had a screw loose. And when I say her husband was her enabler, well Fred backed her up all the way.

Now watch that video again. Is that the behavior of a rational person? Listen to the verbal exchange. I don’t think Susan is going to change her mind. Whatever is wrong with her psyche will take a shrink to untangle, but since she thinks she is in the right, she won't be seeking professional help.

you'll probably get sued by Professor Hayat, and he doesn't have to pay a single cent in legal fees since he would likely represent himself and family pro se for this!

Have fun!

She could have gone to the City of Montclair Building Dept and asked if:

a. a Patio requires a Construction Permit, and if so
b. if that address had one.

It doesn't, so they didn't. People call about permits all the time - it's why cities have Permit Techs, whose job it is to politely respond to questions from angry busybodies on the verge of a nervous breakdown. They have Inspectors who'll red tag illegal construction, too.

One phone call, one internet search, one rational action before an emotional outburst. Now she's the star of the Internet's never-ending shaming show. Hoist by her own Petard, as Shakespeare said.

I know, In know; she'd probably have come up with another reason to harass them...

and one is required, it can be your business. When they do it out of allowed Construction Hours, in particular.

I had the flipper across the street red-tagged several years ago.

There's a reason Permit are required for some work.

But I also have neighbors that have had screaming fights and no longer speak - over home improvement projects.

I think some people are in such mental distress that they don't know how to be civil. The quarantine has made things worse.

... in the neighbor’s yard. But brick patios under a certain square footage are often exempt - which seems to be the case here.

One article says the busybody complained about the color of their home and then showed the home. It’s fucking gorgeous!
