Older White Couple Privilege

I have had white privilege my whole life. Mainly manifested in not getting any of the shit that people of color have to put up with daily. Never had a problem getting a cab or had cops mistreat me, even when I was stopped because they thought I was stealing my own car.
But as my wife and I reached our 60s, and this year are Medicare age, there is a whole other level of privilege, Older White Couple Privilege. Going through a security check at a concert? Go right in, we don't have to look in your bags. Need a bathroom? Sure go use the one in back. Jaywalk right in front of a cop car. No problem. Now it is nice to be treated with respect and as a nonthreat at home and when traveling, but isn't that how everybody should be treated? Not just because you fit an arbitrary profile?

1. Turned into a private drive out in the countryside of Ohio this afternoon, by mistake

Rest stop off the highway. Turned too soon. I said to myself, well.. not black, so I’m unlikely to die for this mistake.

capable if doing much of anything except doddering around.

I don't mind being invisable. I can get away with murder because no one pays any attention to old people.

But I do resent being completely ignored because old people have nothing important to say.
