Storming the beaches at Covid-19: Will vaccine Challange Trials be necessary to save lives?
From the NY Times:
"Challenge trials intentionally expose healthy people to a pathogen to quickly learn more
about the disease it causes or to gain early insight into whether a new vaccine or
treatment works. These studies can be done ethically, but are not typically done for
emerging viruses we know so little about, and for which there are no proven cures."

As the virus ravages the word's population for an extended period (up to 2 years or more?) will
scientists/leaders encourage the most risky and ethically questionable of vaccine trials in which,
after a vaccine has been administered, the subject is intentionally infected with Covid-19?
After we have a viable vaccine candidate would it be right to ask for volunteers for such tests?
It would be asking people to endanger their health and possibly their lives. Is that the equivalent
of asking whether it is right to ask soldiers, enlisted or drafted, to endanger their lives storming
an enemy position?
We may soon be entering the field of ethics.
(Imagine Fox News trying to wrestle with this!)
