Pure lunacy.

Schools need to be closed until we have a handle on the raging pandemic.

how do we educate the children or do we just toss them to the side and go oh well?

We can do remote learning. Except many rural areas don't have reliable Internet access. Rural and urban families don't have the ability or finances for any type of daycare if both parents have to work or it is a one-parent home. Give every student a device. Great, we need to pay for the device and replacements, pay the teachers, pay for the technicians to support the teachers (sadly I/we don't work for free), and other expenses like school lunches for families/students that need the help.

Sorry, but I am scared of the fall and future. WE NEED A TVA PROJECT FOR INTERNET and the Senate to get their butts moving to support education.

And I imagine the rest of South Bay isn't going to go well. My county (Solano) just delayed reopening. I had a work meeting in Oakland scheduled for this week. I was paranoid about it and was pretty decided against going, but they cancelled it on Tuesday. Things are getting too spiky around here.

People got entirely too comfortable. Americans had about two months in them. Now everyone's out again, traffic's resumed, people are wandering around without masks. Even store owners who were insisting on masks just a month ago seem to have ceased caring. I got a bunch of BBQ invites for the Fourth. Are these people insane?!

Madness. Of course cases are going up. People got bored and stopped being vigilant.

The protests didn't help. Those things were not socially distanced and a lot of people were not wearing masks. We're seeing increases in the young now, just popping up after a nice, healthy incubation period. What a mystery. Can't imagine how that happened.

Those little plastic dividers that the school board in Jacksonville approved aren't big enough to do anything if the kids don't have on masks - which have not been mentioned as being considered for requirements in reopening. I expect DeSantis will not relent until there is a massive problem with teacher & lunchroom staffing - because he's just got to follow fellow murderer drumpf. I feel so sorry for working folks with young school age children.
