'Horrific': Dozens of Neighbors Sign Letter Calling Out St. Louis Gun Couple

Dozens of residents of a St. Louis neighborhood have signed a letter condemning the actions of the couple who brandished guns at Black Lives Matter marchers on Sunday.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey, a pair of personal injury attorneys, made headlines this week after they were filmed waving weapons at Black Lives Matter activists who walked in their gated neighborhood en route to a protest at the mayor’s home nearby. Residents of an adjoining gated neighborhood say the couple doesn’t represent the area.

The nearly three-dozen signees live on Westmoreland Place. That street and the adjoining Portland Place, where the McCloskeys live, make up a historic gated district in St. Louis’s Central West End.

“From many walks of life, people choose to make this neighborhood home for many reasons, including the sincerity, empathy, and neighborliness exhibited by the vast majority of those who live here,” the open letter reads.

So it sounds like these two idiots were the only ones who felt threatened.

I can't imagine people from "many walks of life" living there, but good for them for speaking up.

not gold-plated enough. Hell, he called the White House a dump. And destroyed Bonwit Teller!

Over time, the 15-foot tall limestone relief panels, depicting nearly nude women dancing, at the top of the Fifth Avenue facade, became a "Bonwit Teller signature".[2] Donald Trump, who purchased the building thanks to Genesco's CEO John L. Hanigan,[4] wanted to begin demolition in 1980. Trump "promised the limestone reliefs" to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. When they were "jackhammered" "to bits" the act was condemned.[2] Through a spokesman named "John Baron"—who turned out to be Trump himself[5]—Trump said that his company had obtained three independent appraisals of the sculptures, which he claimed had found them to be "without artistic merit."[6] An official at the Metropolitan Museum of Art disputed the statement, stating: "Can you imagine the museum accepting them if they were not of artistic merit? Architectural sculpture of this quality is rare and would have made definite sense in our collection."[6] In addition to the relief panels, the huge Art Deco nickel grillwork over the entrance to the store, which had also been promised to the museum, disappeared.[7] Again masquerading as his own spokesman "John Baron," Trump said, "We don't know what happened to it."[7]

looks like a DC office building to me. Not a big fan the architecture but I can appreciate the craftmanship and detail. I think this is their humble abode:

8. Did a quick "Homes for sale" lookup and they are not nearly as expensive as I'd have thought

Still expensive, but houses in the area for under 700k up to 1.7m for something I would have guessed was easily 5+m. Quite a few for sale for 1m.

Again, still expensive by any measure, but that link shows craftsmanship and detail that would lead one to believe those houses are for the super rich rather than for the "just rich" and apparently assholes.

would be in the 5M+ range. I've never been to St. Louis but if there were ever home tours featuring these two streets, I'd consider a weekend getaway. After COVID-19, however, if there's ever an after!

I'm curious, is it all white or close? Private neighborhoods, clubs, schools etc. in Mo. and other southern states were often created to "skirt" civil rights laws.
