(21,206 posts)Duchey really fed up By not locking down the state and requiring the wearing of masks.
My mother in law lives in sun city west and I worry about her safety. She wears masks but has a daughter whos adult children think corona virus is a hoax and wont wear masks.

(35,359 posts)ICU beds are really expensive. To keep them up and keep them empty at 20% capacity isn't something anybody should do.
It's like having relatives that visit every 10 years, so you need to keep the extra 5 bedrooms ready, make sure there's food for that many extra people, etc.
You get slammed with relatives, cots and sleeping bags on the living room floor suffice for a few days. you don't need the extra 750-1200 sq ft furnished, cleaned, and air-conditioned/heated just in case.
It's the "panic now!" trick. Here in Houston last year well over half of the ICU beds were occupied. No flu. No COVID. Just what was needed for demand with a reasonable buffer for bad incidents. What pushed the ICU beds in Houston "over capacity" was when 26% of them were COVID-filled. 3/4 were ICU beds taken up by everything else.
When he recently re closed gyms and restaurants, did he close down churches as well? I can't find any mention of that. The one church where trump recently had his super spreader event actually has 5 locations around the Valley. That's a lot of community spread.

(11,070 posts)It was gyms, water parks and bars. And gyms are suing over it.
The good thing is that they are yanking liquor licenses - so at least they're semi-serious. Two months too late, of course...

(8,657 posts)They've re closed a whole bunch of the restaurants they'd previously reopened, as they traced cases of Covid to them. I live in Central Phoenix, and haven't seen a single retaurant open lately. Not that I'm looking.

(11,070 posts)There were a bunch in Arcadia that shut down after staff tested positive. I'm seeing a lot switching back to delivery/carry out only.
The biggest thing I've wondered about is the gym that had it's liquor license taken away. Why does a gym need a liquor license?
Must be one of those snooty gyms.
