General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am in Pagosa Springs, CO. I have seen only 3-5 ppl w/masks.
I had to come up here because the security camera at a family vacation cabin went offline, and I was available to drive up (it had been broken into ).
As I came into the town I was shocked. I was coming from NM - we have mask ordinances, and u rarely see ppl w/o them anymore. The main road was filled with ppl with inner tubes, RV's, Giant Pickup trucks with TX, AZ, OK plates - The bars and restaurants had FULL parking lots, it was only 3:45. Not sure WHAT I expected, but not this.
I desperately needed gas and got it on the way in. I put on my mask and went inside to pay - only 2 ppl had masks out of many. They were Native Americans. I asked the 75+ yr old man at the cash register if CO had a mask ordinance. He proceeded to spend 45 or so seconds mansplaining to me that Archuleta County had only had 8 cases of Covid and no deaths.
I WANTED TO SAY - that will change in 2-4 weeks, but I bit my tongue.
The San Juan River runs in front of our cabin, and it was as full of inner tubers etc as I have ever seen it. I'm sure that is pretty safe.
Not sure why I needed to put this out there, but I have a bad feeling that this pretty little town is gonna have some bad days ahead due to it's dependence on tourist $$$, and it just makes me tear up.

(18,890 posts)This virus croaks at 160 degrees, but I have not been to one our hot tubs here that is over 114. The Spa has indoor ladies and mens facilities that are enclosed (used to be my absolute favorite place to be when here). Petri dishes is what they are now.
