'We've got to do something': Republican rebels come together to take on Trump

'We've got to do something': Republican rebels come together to take on Trump
A slew of organized Republican groups have sprung up to do all they can to defeat Trump in November. Will their effort work?

The latest prominent Republican anti-Trump organization made its debut in early July. It’s a Super Pac called 43 Alumni for Biden, and aims to rally alumni of George W Bush’s administration to support the Democrat.

The new Super Pac was co-founded by Kristopher Purcell, a former Bush administration official; John Farner, who worked in the commerce department during the Bush administration; and Karen Kirksey, another longtime Republican operative. Kirksey is the Super Pac’s director.

“We’re truly a grassroots organization. Our goal is to do whatever we can to elect Joe Biden as president,” said Farner.

The Super Pac is still in its early stages and isn’t setting expectations on raising something like $20m. Rather, 43 Alumni for Biden is just focused on organizing.

“After seeing three and a half years of chaos and incompetence and division, a lot of people have just been pushed to say, ‘We have got to do something else,” Purcell said. “We may not be fully on board with the Democratic agenda, but this is a one-issue election. ‘Are you for Donald Trump, or are you for America.’”

I’d just like to keep a very important reminder up front:

They BUILT this.

They all did. ANYBODY who calls him/herself a “Republican” HELPED BUILD THIS.

They wanted power, domination, and all the marbles in the Judicial branch, if not also throughout the Legislative branch AND state & local government.

They just didn’t count on the delivery boy who’d bring all these most-cherished wet dreams to their front door. He’s the most vile, disgusting, ugly, selfish, disgraceful, thoroughly UN-American and downright traitorous and TREASONOUS excuse for a male human as ever walked the earth.

Dems need to move this nation forward on a much better long term basis.

Mitch McConnell and his extremists in the senate have damaged this country beyond repair with all those right wing judges. We might be rid of trump some day, but we won't be rid of the stink he is leaving behind for generations.

I still don't want republicans to win "down ticket".

...wouldn't it be nice if, just for once, an organized group of Republicans - oh let's say... current sitting members of Congress - would 'come together' in this way.

Wayyyy too much to ask. However, to these former Dubbya people on board with Biden I say welcome, and thanks.

Trump is their Frankenstein monster who took over the Republican laboratory.

For decades, that laboratory used Limbaugh, Fox News, etc. to rile up the MAGA blockheads. But Trump is burning it all to the ground. Let it burn.

I'm all for Trump taking down the Republican party as it's now constructed. Problem is, he's the President of ALL of America and he's taking the ENTIRE country with him, not 'just' the Republicans.

We need help from every single quarter from which it's being offered.

They refuse to take responsibility or blame for creating the forces that gave us Trump.

-Fox News
-Limbaugh
-The Religious Right
-Hannity
-Coulter
-etc, etc.

Will they help dismantle this dangerous right wing media machine that they created?

My guess is no, so only a matter of time before another Trump breaks loose from the laboratory. Remember, these are the people who gave us Reagan, Bush, Gingrich, etc. Trump is just a more uncouth, unpolished version.

If a Pit Bull trainer loses control of an attack dog he's trained and he's killing people, of course you welcome their help to restrain the dog. But they are not your friend, and must be held accountable too. When I see ads also disputing the credibility of the right wing media that got Trump elected, then I will change my mind.

These "good" Republicans are like mad scientists who played with dangerous chemicals (FOX, Limbaugh, etc) to lure voters by appealing to their worst, tribal instincts.

Trump is no different than they are.....their problem with him is not policy....but rather that he's just more uncloaked about it than Reagan, Bush, Gingrich, McConnell, Paul Ryan, and other climate change deniers, theocrats, vulture capitalists, etc.

If they're not willing to also openly repudiate the 50 years of Republican agenda that WE WARNED THEM WOULD LEAD US HERE, all they're doing is short-term ass-covering. And that's not enough.

They SHOULD be openly calling for medicare for all, on the argument that it's good for American Business, even if American Business cant see that yet.

They SHOULD be openly calling for an end to the war on drugs, as an advancement of their libertarian principals.

They SHOULD be openly calling for police reform, as an argument that 'smaller government' means a government less capable of implementing systemic rascism.

They SHOULD be openly calling for the destruction of the party of Richard Nixon, so they can at least TRY to be the Party of Lincoln.

I'm glad they're finally on our side on this ONE ISSUE. That's not the same as all of us, being on theirs.

time. They got the US into THREE f***ing wars, and brought the country to the very brink of economic devastation. If Obama had been any other human being who ascended to the white house, we surely would have plunged into a huge depression. Obama was a genius. Still is... and he saved our asses.

What Obama DID NOT DO, was reinstate the fairness doctrine and clean up the voting mess. That's how trump got in.

We have GOT TO secure our votes. Before we do one more thing. I think that was the reason so many people never felt like participating in our democracy; it just never made sense as to who was getting elected, because the voting machines have been hackable or programmed for mischief, and all the districts gerrymandered.

End gerrymandering, secure voting machines with paper trails, stop vote suppression! AND overturn Citizens United and get money the F*CK out of our elections!

but these people are largely following the desertion that has already taken place, especially among women in the suburbs.

I might view them a bit differently if I thought there was a real change going on, but there isn't. It doesn't take much to realize Dumdum is an existential threat to this country. It would take a lot more for them to realize he's a symptom of their own problems than the root cause of them.

All these people still believe in the two major fallacies destroying this country, that the end justifies the means and that economies (and everything else, honestly) work from the top down, so the bottom can safely be ignored. Getting rid of the major symptom is not going to cure the disease and they will continue to poison this country after the major symptom is hidden under a bandaid.

That the economy came to a crashing halt when the "bottom" either got laid off, quarantined themselves and their money or both, ought to clearly demonstrate and put proof to the lie that "trickle down" economics actually works.

That was part of what lead us to the place where, when George Floyd was murdered, it all became so friggin' clear what was going on in this country, socially, economically, LEGALLY (!!! Cops getting to kill citizens with impunity!), and politically. George Floyd will always be, to me, the angel that tore the scab off the wound of the United States, and let everyone see the putrid infection underneath.

He truly gave his life for his country.
