He gives interviews to RW outlets that will lob him softballs.

There are plenty of journalists that are NOT idiots and would hold his giant ass to the fire, but Trump and his lackeys know how to avoid them.

Just when you start whacking at one mole, another pops up. It’s a losing game. Pick one and keep whacking. And the bounties was a big mole.

If the major investigative newspapers don't have new info, they don't run new stories.

The WH has already given their spin; they won't come up with fresh lies unless they have to respond. There need to be individual deaths tied to the bounties, and that will be hard to prove.

When the story first broke there was quite a bit of shock and outrage expressed by the Dems. Then it seems like after the Gang of Eight were briefed the issue kind of died. What did the Dems learn at that Gang of Eight briefing?

Why isn't this the number one story that is being talked about?

We all know if that was a Dem President and not Trump - the Repugs would have had that person impeached by now. I just don't get it.

so they can be "fair and balanced". because fair and balanced means giving equal time to person that says 1+1=2 and to the person that says 1+1=1 .

I really wish I had a better word than craziness. Gaslighting? But it's really related to journalism.

It happens over and over again--huge, significant story, overcome by a bunch of smaller spectacular stories. Some people are paying attention to the huge one behind the scenes, then it hits the headlines weeks or months later and many people act like it's brand new. I'm sure there's a pattern to this, and I wish I could find an expert who could explain it better.

Example: a few months ago we learned that the VA hospitals were testing the useless and often harmful malaria drug on vets. Outrage. Then it was forgotten. Then yesterday on Twitter it was all over the place again, in between the recent things: Ghislaine, Mary Trump, WHO, Deutsche Bank, and on and on.

Deja news all over again.

On the other hand, I like to think that there are some smart and powerful people having conversations about this and that they might surprise us.

Everything I've seen has had anonymous sources. I would think journalists and those in government/military are seeking sources who can be disclosed. It can't just be Tammy Duckworth who is interested.

It was one of many wild (and almost certainly true) accusations of misconduct against Trump.

I said from the beginning that if the story was able to be proven it would be the biggest scandal in modern history. But if it remained mere accusation it would be as easily dismissed as all the other mere accusations against Trump.

If someone leaks the PDB showing that Trump did receive this briefing, or folks in high places go on record about his inaction, it will blow up again. But until we have some meat to sink our teeth into the story will fade as all the others have.
