A nurse at a Chicago hospital came home upset that she was having to mingle with other staffers who treated Covid-19 patients. Less than a month later, she died of the disease.

1. My younger brother had to be hospitalized in April for a spinal abcess. He died from a blood clot.

The abcess was improving with IV antibiotics. He died suddenly after a week in the hospital. His BP dropped from normal to nothing in seconds and he couldn't be resuscitated. Coronary thrombosis.No previous heart issues. From the moment the doctor told me what happened, Ive thought Covid might be the cause. The doc hadn't even thought of it. My sister in law turned down an autopsy and I didn't push her on it because we were both in shock, but this increases my intuition that he caught covid-19 in the hospital. It was three days after his 70th birthday. The family got together via zoom.

Thrombs can develop if the person is inactive (which he would be, being in a hospital bed). Without a covid test, no way to tell.

2. Covid is an airborne disease. Very easy to spread.

Covid patients really should be in negative pressure rooms. Most hospitals don't have negative pressure rooms (or enough negative pressure rooms to house all the covid patients).

5. My wife was just at an emergency room.

She put of going as long as possible for this very reason. When she got to the point where her nausea was so bad she could not hold down water, she had me take her in. She was put on an IV and initial tests called for admission to the hospital. Further tests of her vital signs were more promising, and she was given prescriptions to deal with the symptoms and released. The scarcity of beds most likely impacted that decision.

The prescriptions are working and she is feeling much better now. But her apprehension about going to this particular emergency room was not only from knowledge of the news. She went there for a back injury about 2 months ago, only to be notified the next day that she and myself because I sat in the waiting room, had to be tested for corona virus due to a contact tracing situation from a patient at the facility the day before. We both tested negative for the virus.

We live just outside San Antonio where the cases are skyrocketing just like the rest of the state. We have been very lucky that my job is still there and that she for the moment can avoid the hospital. Others are not so lucky and local hospitals are strained. Despite their best efforts, they are a source of possible new infections just due to their nature.

8. Oh man this is not what I needed to see..My gastro

Dr scheduled me for an endoscopy/colonoscopy next week. I have been having issues since late March. I refused to go in because of covid. It is better but still having issues. Anyway, I agreed to the procedures because I figured I could find out if there was something bad going on before covid spikes again. Cases in VA overall are dropping. However, all of the cities around me (Hampton Roads) are beginning to spike a bit. I’m very nervous but then I think what if it gets worse in the fall and covid cases are high..ugh..
