SCOTUS just said. This sucks! Now you have to get your employer's permission to allow you to get birth control. Your employer!
Next they will kill the ACA? Or will this make the ACA more popular.
"The ruling was victory for the administration's plan to greatly expand the kinds of employers who can cite religious or moral objections in declining to include contraceptives in their health care plans. Up to 126,000 women nationwide would lose birth control coverage under the plan, the government estimated. Planned Parenthood said nearly nine in 10 women seek contraceptive care of some kind during their lifetimes."
"Since Congress passed Obamacare in 2010, the issue of which employers can decline offer contraceptive coverage has remained highly controversial."

(9,019 posts)Women in the ACA CAN get contraception if their employer allows it. If the employer does not, they cannot, which is really stupid. This decision will have to be countered by bolstering the ACA.
In other words, women need permission from their employers to get birth control coverage.
Its infuriating!
That's certainly bad enough, if you as a female happen to work for a religious org. The kicker, to me, is that those employers are not even providing the health care to those women. The women are on the ACA. Those employers, presumably religious employers, are not funding anything about their healthcare, so what the hell right do they have to dictate what women do with their own healthcare, that the individuals are paying for?
Oh, yeah.......religion again.
Like I said, its infuriating!

(68,578 posts)The issue is if you can get insurance through work, you can't get subsidies...once the ACA is reformed where anyone can choose the ACA and receive subsides and a public option is in place, this ruling will be meaningless. But since hobby lobby, it has been this way...and shows us what happens when some who claims to share our party or are views don't vote blue. Imagine if Hillary had been elected.

(4,131 posts)That is single payer and open to all. It would be a great way to get started with single payer (limited to birth control) and would open the door to future expansion of the program.
We have to win in November.
