is it possible that covid19 is primarily a blood-clotting disease 1st and a respiratory disease 2nd?

i'm not sure exactly what causes phlegm production, but i'm wondering if the blood clotting might not be a "complication" of covid-19 that's normally a respiratory disease.

could it be the other way around? that is, could it be that it's primarily a blood clotting disease and the respiratory symptoms we see are actually the "complication", to my non-medical intuition, it could make sense that if microclots form in the lungs, the body goes crazy generating phlegm to try to get you to cough out the clots.

What if it's just a weird immuno-response disease? soothsayer Jul 2020 #1
I said a long time ago it's like a contagious lupus. marybourg Jul 2020 #6

Unnnnn, the clots could come from increased red blood cell production BECAUSE of lack of O2 which is uponit7771 Jul 2020 #3
thanks, i don't know enough about what causes internal blood clots either. unblock Jul 2020 #4

Actually it is both. It usually first infects the Respiratory, but can spread body wide. mackdaddy Jul 2020 #8

Freaks out your system and makes your body attack itself through clotting, Cyklotine storms, drowning yourself.

It's transmission may be through the respiratory system, but the effects seem to be predominately on the blood stream, causing clots and interfering with oxygen absorption.

i would have thought it was increased oxygen in the blood that cause clots as i've always thought oxygen was necessary to form clots.

as a 'vascular' syndrome. Which pretty much means every part of the body, head to toe.

There are "ACE2" receptors in many kinds of cells including those that line the walls of the vascular system.
Lungs, Kidneys Heart, brain, liver have all been involved. This ain't the flu.
